2018 Updated Base Modules

Post#16 by M. Eerie » 14 Feb 2018, 16:20

Changing from .sng file to .cfg file with cheatcodes in it, seems a neat feature. Can this be ported to Nemesis?

2018 Updated Base Modules

I have you change porteus-nemesis-v3.5-lxde-x86_64.iso in any way? I know you change the base and Desktop. If you change the boot up part can I have it?

Since Porteus 4.0 is getting release, I will have time for Nemesis.
I just like Slackware because I think it teach you about Linux to build packages where Ubuntu is like Windows you just install programs you want.

2018 Updated Nemesis Base Modules

Post#22 by M. Eerie » 02 Mar 2018, 18:52

I'm really in love with this project. Thank you for sharing.

Are you aware of this? --> https://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=archlabs

Very low profile ( ~200 MB running), and nice looking themed with polybar. Beautiful. The only drawback, is systemd.

I'd like to see this ported to OpenRC Nemesis (Maybe this one would serve as a base viewtopic.php?p=62637#p62637).

How could I help?

Cheers!

@ncmprhnsbl,

Since you update your base modules, I will try and rebuild LXDE and see if it fixed any of my problems. I will post them in my thread for the output. If this message needs move then move it.
I just like Slackware because I think it teach you about Linux to build packages where Ubuntu is like Windows you just install programs you want.

@ncmprhnsbl & neko:
Thanks for the update. Great addition to have nemesis assembled as a complete iso.

@raja:
downloads, converts, merges, make xzm module and copy to module directory, and cleans up the work bench

What do you mean by that? Could you give more details in another thread?

Got what you meant. It works as intended. :)

2018 Updated Nemesis Base Modules

Nemesis with kernel 4.15.14

nemesis-xfce-18.03.29-x86_64.iso (465 M)
http://www.mediafire.com/file/7j50nk0la ... x86_64.iso
md5sum: 927b77a9551911f31922315cbca8185e nemesis-xfce-18.03.29-x86_64.iso

1. ISO Base was built with the skeleton & modules that are gotten from http://forum.porteus.org/viewtopic.php?p=61949#p61949
"skel" directory was renamed to "nemesis-xfce-18.03.29-x86_64".
"000-kernel-4.14.13-pti.xzm" was renamed to "000-kernel.xzm". (for "Kernel builder" tool)

[nemesis-xfce-18.03.29-x86_64@porteus/modules/004-google-chrome-65.0.3325.181-1-x86_64-1neme.xzm]
004-google-chrome-65.0.3325.181-1-x86_64-1neme was created by "mkgoogle-chrome" command
and included the dependency libraries (libXss.so libXss.so.1 libXss.so.1.0.0).

Note1:
"mkgoogle-chrome" command
ArchLinux packages manager for Porteus (Post by neko #36687)

Note2:
"libXss.so.1.0.0" was gotten from "libxss-1.2.2-x86_64-2" package.

Note3:
google-chrome (youtube) doesn't have a sound. (missing something basically).

2. Kernel was updated by "Kernel builder" tool.
using following modules. (refer to Porteus Kernel Builder (Post by neko #52232))
mkKernel-18.02.27-noarch-1.xzm
v4.15.14.tar.xz
crippled_sources-4.15.14-64bit.xzm

Thanks.

google-chrome (youtube) doesn't have a sound. (missing something basically).
i have sound with chromium(which shouldn't be much different to chrome)
these are the deps for chromium:

Code: Select all

[porteus guest]# pacman -S chromium
resolving dependencies...
looking for conflicting packages...

Packages (6) libxslt-1.1.32+3+g32c88216-1 libxss-1.2.2-2 minizip-1:1.2.11-2
             re2-20180301-1 snappy-1.1.7-1 chromium-65.0.3325.181-5

Total Download Size: 44.44 MiB
Total Installed Size: 165.26 MiB
note also that icu (needed by chromium) is now out of date..
which is the problem with rolling repos, that update "whenever"
one strategy, is to pman -Syu in between my updates, and discard these 'update modules' when the next updated base modules come through.. (and not use changes folder)

2018 Updated Nemesis Base Modules

Nemesis 20180503 with kernel 4.16.7

nemesis-xfce-18.05.04-x86_64.iso (351 M)
http://www.mediafire.com/file/ab5cf1xs8 ... x86_64.iso
md5sum: 272f0a857a647267bf2adec84fd559ae nemesis-xfce-18.05.04-x86_64.iso

1. ISO Base was built with the skeleton & modules
were gotten from 2018 Updated Nemesis Base Modules (Post by ncmprhnsbl #61949)

2. boot/syslinux/vmlinuz and porteus/base/000-kernel.xzm
were replaced with "kernel 4.16.7" that was built by Porteus 4.0 config.

Please refer to Porteus Kernel Builder (Post by neko #64423)

3. Additional modules
[nemesis-xfce-18.05.04-x86_64@porteus/modules/004-google-chrome-66.0.3359.139-1-x86_64-1DUOWif.xzm]
004-google-chrome-66.0.3359.139-1-x86_64-1DUOWif.xzm was created by "mkgoogle-chrome" command.

[nemesis-xfce-18.05.04-x86_64@porteus/modules/missinglib.xzm]
missinglib.xzm includes the google-chrome dependency libraries (libXss.so libXss.so.1 libXss.so.1.0.0).

Note:
This issue
"google-chrome (youtube) doesn't have a sound. (missing something basically)"
was fixed.
Please refer to 2018 Updated Nemesis Base Modules (Post by neko #63724)

Thanks.
