2.0 Missing icons in root mode:
I have followed your procedure in first post with a clean install, save changes guest mode to get in root mode with a clean rootcopy folder (bis, same comment as above):
if you want to autologin to root> edit /etc/conf.d/agetty.tty1 > change line 8: agetty_options="--autologin=guest" to root and
copy bash_profile from /home/guest to /root
good to know that works :)

There is a problem with icon-theme in root mode. I do not see icons in the xfce4 menu, neither in thunar.
Thanks
probably just need to set the icon theme in the appearance settings..

OK. Forget the item 1.0 in precedent post. I have found your thunar root which is quite an improvement over other desktop that I have used yet. With thunar root there is no mousepad freezing. It seems that you will finally convert me into a normal user.
yeah, dunno what was going on with mousepad there.. something to do with "login shells" or something else i don't fully understand..
not fully sold on pkexec , but it seems to do the job..

Contextual module building is an asset, maybe a message stating that the module is building and as finished building could be an improvement for newcomers.
that would be nice.. as it is, the custom action just calls the dir2xzm script directly, which has no X/gtk component..
i'll have a look at trying to convert some the intermediary context menu scripts from slackware porteus ..

Though I have been playing with icon sets in the recent past, trying to set the icon-theme in root mode does not work at all in this case. This is an enigma for me. B)

enigma indeed... worked for me, as soon as i opened the icon setting part...
next version will include settings for root desktop..
also, when changing from guest to root live, i found i needed to:
(after editing /etc/conf.d/agetty.tty1) (i just commented to autologin line) (and /root/.bash_profile)
Ctrl+Alt+F2 (or any other tty but 1)

Code: Select all

rc-service agetty.tty1 stop
rc-service agetty.tty1 start
then change to tty1 and then login root (it was then just a matter of logging out of X/root to change back to guest)

Almost 350 glances at this post within a few days.

Very promising or popular as brokenman has stated. :D

Looking for some improvements, don't you think that providing the thunar root icon on the panel next to thunar normal user could be an interesting avenue?
xzm2dir and other contextual mouse activated functions would also be interesting, unless you want to keep it really KISS. ;)

It is surprising that we do not get more comments from testers.

Still annoyed by guest mode. If I remember you spoke about implementing root mode too. Has it happened?

Contextual thunar actions like dir2xzm and xzm2dir would be great assets.

Thanks. :hi:

if you don't want to autologin > comment out line 8 .. X should then start after guest login on console

Works fine. Last time there was a problem with the icon-set or something like that.

Thanks.
