contain a /home folder _AND_ it has a "lock" emblem attached. If not, then it has been given 'guest' owner permissions
to be clear: /home should be owned by root and guest (and everything in it) by guest ( chown -R guest:guest <your_module_extracted>/home/guest )

In my Mate I working on now everything in guest should be own by guest owner and everything in root should be own by root owner. If you want to use GParted you should do it as a root owner if that not the cast then only have one owner root or SU. Another program is Caja and there could be more.

Update GParted don't work right as guest when login as guest. I try toor when it ask for password but had to use guest I try this the other day.
I just like Slackware because I think it teach you about Linux to build packages where Ubuntu is like Windows you just install programs you want.

I've found this to be quite stable and complete. Added some tools also as a separate module.

Have included mate-tweak and advanced mate-menu (not default). Applets do work now and menu has been polished a bit.

https://www.swisstransfer.com/d/5403d4a ... 69a39b377d

Maybe a update-cache

Please, let me know any findings.

Thanks!

I just try your new update here the output.

1 It looks better.
2 It still dose the same thing like the last update.
3 You must not added any updates to fix anything.

As far as mind I did a update-cache and it work at that setting but when I rebooted it didn't work so I look to see if it was there and it was in porteus/base/009-cache.xzm. I don't know what going on with it.

I just like Slackware because I think it teach you about Linux to build packages where Ubuntu is like Windows you just install programs you want.

Jack, I think you have a mix of settings in your changes data. I recommend to start ***really*** fresh without any saved changes.

Also, there's no need to rootcopy anything now, because the mate module itself has guest autologin feature.

I did a update-cache and it work at that setting but when I rebooted it didn't work
Remove all your update-cache modules in porteus/base and porteus/modules folders and start over.

Do a clean boot and then update-cache and save the module in your base folder where it is going to be loaded. If you are saving changes, then there's no need for that, but as I said above, I think you need to create a new savechanges space.

I did delete the save change directory before I booted in to Graphics mode (changes) and what I posted was my Mate build not yours.

I haven't use rootcopy because I been building a new 003-mate.xzm every time you gave me patch and I hope still do it so I can fix my build.

I just like Slackware because I think it teach you about Linux to build packages where Ubuntu is like Windows you just install programs you want.

So, it boots as it should, right? I think it must come from another module loaded (office, etc). My MATE module doesn't have /run or /tmp folders. And /etc /var are owned by root as it should.

I really think you have a module or more that messes things up.

What do you mean "all the other modes"? Depending on the other modes you choose to boot, you are loading one thing or another... Isolate module by module and restart using the "other modes" and see what happens.

I see /run and /tmp in the list. And the only program I added was Firefox.

Code: Select all

/bin
/dev
/etc
/home
/lib
/lib64
/mnt
/opt
/proc
/root
/run
/sbin
/srv
/sys
/tmp
/usr
/var
What do you mean "all the other modes"? Depending on the other modes you choose to boot, you are loading one thing or another... Isolate module by module and restart using the "other modes" and see what happens.
Here is the one's I tested.

MENU LABEL Graphics mode
MENU LABEL Graphics mode(changes)
MENU LABEL Always Fresh
MENU LABEL Text mode

The only one that work is Always Fresh and all the other had ERROR's

If I could get Always Fresh to save changes I wouldn't worry about the rest of the modes.

I just got a working copy of Mate. I don't know what I did but it works. I want to thank M. Eerie for his hard work and if it wasn't for him I would have been lost.

I am pleased to present the new version. It occupies 70 Mb and the tests carried out so far, I am very satisfied with it.

The mimetypes still need to be adjusted a little bit.

I also plan to remove Adwaita as icon theme and include a remix of several themes to reduce the final size.

Available for 1 week and 20 downloads only.

If anyone is interested, just let me know what would you add/remove. Your feedback will help me to build a better MATE desktop.

Thanks.
