Installation of Porteus Kiosk on windows machine

Post#1 by tlab11 » 05 Feb 2020, 18:21

Hi Support, Trying to create a bootable USB disk for Porteus kiosk mode using win32diskmanager but having trouble with it. I have downloaded 4.9 kiosk version and ran win32diskmanager aginst the .iso file but only creates 955 KB usb boot disk. Is that right?

Also I extracted iso file but only see 3 folders. Boot, docs and xzm and make_iso.sh file.

under boot folder, there are isolinux and pxelinux.cfg folders.

I have searched everywhere but cannot find how to create a usb bootable disk for kisok mode. please advice. Thank you.

Hello tlab11,

You have done correct (Windows wont see other partition).
Please boot this USB on the target PC and follow the first run wizard to configure and install your kiosk.

Thanks

Rufus unpacks the content of the ISO to the USB stick while it needs to be burned 'byte after byte'.
Thats why we recommend Win32DiskImager in kiosk documentation as it does only that.

Thanks
