Change config file on live machines via SSH

Post#1 by marioaldayuz » 18 Dec 2019, 22:04

Hello!

We installed Porteus on two kiosks and the employees replaced the printer with a different model. Is it possible to edit the printer configuration via SSH in a live setting? If so, where can I find the configuration file? Is there a way to test print remotely?

Change config file on live machines via SSH

If you have SSH access and enough memory on the kiosk systems, you can
  1. use the wizard to build a new (properly configured) Porteus Kiosk ISO (works also in a VM),
  2. copy the new ISO image via scp onto the target, and then
  3. use 'dd' to manually replace the existing installation on the target HDD/SDD.
  4. Reboot might require a power-cycle on some platforms.
