[Solved] Not able to save config or iso on usb

Hey,
currently I'm struggling the last days a lot with the kiosk wizard.
My Problem: I can't save the configuration or iso after I configured my new system.
The /media is always there and after saving (no usb is inserted) a message says that I can eject my removable device. Without having one plugged in.
If I plug in a usb, it won't work either: the usb is empty. I also tried it several times and often formatted the usb or tried another one. Rarely a notification said that a usb was plugged in. But then saving throwed an error that I couldn't (Filesystem: NTFS and FAT32).
Once the configuration really got saved on the usb. But I was just testing around and it was nothing really I wanted to save. And I couldn't reproduce this again.

What can I do? Would be very cool if someone could help me out a bit :)

Hello codinghusi,

Perhaps its a hardware failure.
Please change the USB stick to some branded model.

Thanks

Hi fanthom, thank you for your reply.
I have used a branded model (and like I said also another one). I forgot to say that I tried it on two laptops and on virtual box.
Unfortunately every restart of the wizard takes me some minutes because the download of the browser is very slowly, so it's a bit frustrating. Hope I get it fixed soon!
Any other Idea?

Edit: So I got one usb where the wizard throws the error "Could not save the kiosk config - suspecting unsupported filesystem or read only media. Please try again with device formatted with FAT, NTFS or XFS filesystem"
And I tried FAT and NTFS.

Edit 2: Figured it out somehow. Often plugged out and in the usb and checked if it mounted. I also noticed that I get the error if the file already exists on that usb and the filename may not include spaces.

Kiosk config name can not include spaces.
Whitespaces are poorly supported under linux and not supported at all in the URLs (so you would not be able to use it as remote config unless you rename a file).

Thank you for sharing.

Hi, my problem is that the error is very bad. If I could write on the usb and try to save a file with a space and the error says that I can't because of a corrupted system or something. That's pretty bad.

Nevertheless I found out that if it mounts and the file manager gives my an error that it couldn't mount (weird that it wanted to mount at / and not at /media) I needed to save or load many times and then I could access the usb. BUT also then I needed to continue saving and test if anything was saved. When that went correctly I had write access.

This process took me hours...

Please install our variant "Cloud", enable support for removable devices and check if your USB stick will be autmounted with a write access every time you plug the stick into the kiosk.
If not then i'll request SSH access to your kiosk so i could debug the problem.

Thanks

Hi, the problem is, that I didn't install porteus. I wanted to export an iso. So SSH won't be possible ^^
Also I don't want to use the Cloud-Variant.
But I hope I won't need to do this again :)

I thought you want to resolve this issue permanently.
If this is not the case then lets close this topic.

Thanks
