Which versions of vmware esxi work with the current Porteus version

We have the Porteus kiosk server, I cannot remember what version it is and where to find it. The esxi server version Porteus server is on is VMware ESXi 6.0.0 build-5572656
We have not been able to update the server since 1/29/19 because of an error that brings the Porteus kiosk server down.
The error is
The error in VMware says this:
"The configured guest OS (Other (64-bit)) for this virtual machine does not match the guest that is currently running (Linux 4.19.16-kiosk Other Linux 4.x or later kernel). You should specify the correct guest OS to allow for guest-specific optimizations

Our Datacenter is suggesting this. It is likely that the Kernel version of the upgraded Porteus Linux server is too new for the ESXI server to work with. The most current option for an alternate Guest Operating system is "Other Linux 3.x or later kernel" and according to the error, VMware wants you to use "Other Linux 4.x or later kernel" which is not an available option.

Can I get some help from you on what could be causing the issue. I have not been able to restart the server since January and tied up with other major projects and issues elsewhere

Hello bsnead,

We always use latest LTS kernel in PK Server, which is 4.19x at the moment.
You should also upgrade your VMware machine to latest version whenever it becomes available.

Please download server 4.8.0 ISO from kiosk website and try to reinstall your server. Please keep default formatting option in the wizard so persistent partition will be intact (clients config, files, data will persist).

Thank you.
