Licensing question

Post#1 by eximal » 30 Apr 2019, 17:42

I created a web app that can be used in kiosks. My question is can I use proteus for this commercial app? Is this possible that I change it's default settings and set my web app url and redistribute it in my website (for commercial use)? Or I should pay for this?

I saw that
is available free for private users, companies and public institutions under the terms of the GPL license
but not sure it is my case or not? my web app is not open source but your license need it to be open source, or am I wrong?

Licensing question

Post#4 by fanthom » 01 May 2019, 04:25

Its explained here:
"Individual packages and system components - for e.g. Google Chrome, Adobe Flash, Citrix Receiver, wireless/GPU firmware - are provided with their own licenses. Every kiosk ISO downloaded from our site includes a copy of the GPL license which is placed in the "docs" folder inside the ISO. Other licenses are embedded in respective modules."

You may add your license to your custom module and you can redistribute the ISO.
Would be great if you could present the license to the users so they are aware of it. Its entirely up to you how you handle this.

Thanks
