PXE & REMOTE MANAGEMENT

Post#1 by alexroz » 29 Aug 2018, 11:42

I can't quite to grasp the concept of managing the configuration parameters with PXE boot.
Shall I serve the dedicated kiosk_config file thru HTTP outside of ISO data folder or can I just edit something inside PXE ISO data folder?

Any location is good as long as its accessible by the kiosk.

You may enter your kiosk config URL in the browser's address bar and check if you can view it.

PXE & REMOTE MANAGEMENT

Post#3 by alexroz » 03 Sep 2018, 06:18

As far as I can understand: If a client (which installed at HDD or USB ) recognizes during the boot sequence that there was some change at kiosk_config file at REMOTE MANAGEMENT server, it rebuilds ISO and burns it back to the local installation media. Right?
But what is going on in case of PXI???
Client can't reconfigure content of PXE server. So REMOTE MANAGEMENT server is inapplicable in this case? Am I correct?

In case of PXE boot remote config must be hosted on http server (could be same one which is hosting PXE ISO) it can't be hosted on PK Server.

Settings are applied during kiosk boot (after downloading the config). Reburn is not needed.

Reburn is still necessary for standard installations so kiosk can work with last settings when remote config becomes unavailable.
