I'm trying to build a Porteus Kiosk on an HP t5630 Thin Client, which is a pathetically old box with 1GB memory and clearly 32bits. Just want to boot off a usb stick into Firefox and display a web page.
I did this on the Thin Client as a test a year ago, and it worked. But did I write anything down?....no
I just built 3.7.0 on an old Dell laptop, generated a USB stick, and could boot that just fine.
Trying the same process on the HP Thin Client now just hangs. I get a quick Porteus one-line banner, some good looking access to the memory stick, but then it hangs with a blank screen and some slow repetitive usb access.
Trying to boot the stick I generated on the Dell laptop gives me about the same behavior.
I know this worked about a year ago, so I'm hoping it will work with a 3.6.0 32bit distro.
Can anyone tell me where I can still find a Porteus-Kiosk-3.6.0-i486.iso ? Or if you have any other suggestions, that would be great.
Thanks....Lyle

Well, now I'm thinking that the current 3.7.0 distribution is not my problem.
I found the usb stick I used to generate my test a year ago, and it's 3.7.0
I'm wondering if my problem isn't 32bit vs 64bit.
If I run 3.7.0 off a usb stick on my Dell laptop which has an i7 processor, do the wizard config and generate a second usb stick for the kiosk,
should I be able to plug that into the HP Thin Client which has a "VIA Eden 1Ghz" (VIA VX800 north/south bridge unified chip) processor?
Or do I have to run the Wizard on the target system? (doesn't help much, because I can't boot the 3.7.0 usb stick on the HP Thin Client).
I swear this all worked a year ago.
Thanks....Lyle

Normally 32bit systems run on 64bit hardware. 64bit systems will not run on 32bit hardware.
Hardware/software booting problems usually revolve around video drivers, USB drivers and hard drive drivers.
