speedy and good scripts

Hi

A little late than planned let me say I am very happy with the boot up speed of Porteus.
I know about bootchart etc, but for my SATA drive with not a lot of modules loading I still get to desktop
from bootloader menu in less than 15 seconds. Much faster than my other distro which is Xubuntu.

2) I am still new to Porteus but have just found the tcz2xzm and xzm2dir scripts to be very useful.

I am not a great coder so not suggesting any improvements just stating the facts Sir or Madam

I presume you meant txz2xzm, amiright? :D

...

And for some reason, I felt the need to tweak the dir2xzm script changing the line that does the actual module creation from

Code: Select all

mksquashfs "$1" "$2" -b 256K -Xbcj x86 -noappend $keep $3 $4 $5 $6 $7 $8 $9
to

Code: Select all

time mksquashfs "$1" "$2" -b 256K -Xbcj x86 -noappend $keep $3 $4 $5 $6 $7 $8 $9
