Best I've tried so far .......
I've been using Slitaz ( which ain't no sloutch ).
Tried Porteus about a year ago with ( for some reason ) no luck.
Tried again now and it's working great.
I was going to simply boot and run off the USB, but couldn't resist
trying install to HD, and works fine.
This is for offline PC in my laboratory.
1) Runs DATS (woofer tester) with Wine better than Windows
2) Changed Slax .sb extention to .xzm on Minicom and runs fine.
3) Plays mp3's fine.
4) Boots fast.
5) On the USB stick (ext. 2) runs great with persistence.
( One of these days I am going to do a USB only PC ( no HD ))
Thank You !!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is great to read that you appreciate that distro as much as we do!

Porteus just rocks 8) . My blender renders were crashing under Windows 8.1 , but under Porteus 0 problem . Also the modules save space-time, and they're very easy to be installed on other computers. I'm so thankful for what you've done, you've created the best OS ever .
I just wish to have Porteus on smart phones also. I am so familiar with Porteus by now, I can't imagine another OS to use.

It is sort of ironic that one of Porteus's best attributes,
( for my purposes ) Is how well it handles Wine
Sound and all !

Great distro- bonus points for supporting DuckDuckgo search engine.
...McLuhan coined and certainly popularized the usage of the term "surfing" to refer to rapid, irregular and multidirectional movement through a heterogeneous body of documents or knowledge...

Wow! That's, like, the best praise an OS can get. Seriously. Thanks a lot for that.cttan wrote:Ya. Same here. Can't imagine the world without Porteus!
BTW, do you do reviews? We need recent ones, e.g. any variant of standard 3.1 e.g. KDE, LXQT, XFCE or Mate; not a tweaked version with another non-standard WM / DE. [¹]

Some years ago, the time when Port first used DDG, there have been (very rarely) search enquiries that gave no results, or almost zero, when I knew it should give much more results. Cross-Checking with google confirmed my assumption, but the coders at DDG did a great job improving it, and now it is as good as "gurgle", by just the results alone.
Data security and privacy DDG tops all others.
