Back home again

Finally came back to Porteus after leaving 3.1 32 bit KDE. I left Porteus for another woman, I mean OS. That would be MX Antix. KDE version of course. Great OS and Forum.

I left because of 2 reasons: Internet requirements and newer hardware problems because of 3.1 32 bit.

I tried each new Porteus version and found various problems that I did not feel like solving. It took me alot of effort to get 3.1 how I liked and it just seemed the newer releases made that job harder. Following the Porteus forums did not make me want to jump into that boat again.

Not being able to easily find software was a big block. KDE itself seemed to be much less refined and was clunky to me.

MX is very much like Porteus as far as the ability to run read-only and also manipulate loading of software at boot. Other aspects also remind me of Porteus which is what attracted me to MX.

One BIG thing about Porteus is MODULES. I have been unable to find any other OS that does that as well as Porteus. I have sorely missed that capability after 3.1 and have been on the lookout ever since.

With Porteus 5.0 KDE I am home once again. Package manager kicks like USM used to, KDE is smooth and cool to use again, works on all my hardware at this time and the fantastic module system is awesome.

Thank you to everyone who has created this great OS as a gift.
