The thing is this, Debian has changed a lot and Linux distributions are getting very big in gigabytes and are filled with unnecessary stuff... in my personal experience, only the network installation in Debian and Mageia has been successful in 100% of the cases, with the detail of the Grub booter -it failed sometimes-. Even so, it is an impossible mission to leave it clean, Mageia does achieve an amazing customization and its control panel is even worth mentioning.
After reading up on "slapt-mod" I know I can get anything I need additionally and move it around as if it were an appimage. THAT'S WONDERFUL, UNPARALLELED!
The million dollar question is:
what happens if salix disappears, we're left with no repositories?
FINALLY, I have altlinux installed (and loving it) on my everyday computer, and a resurrected laptop that I could take anywhere with me.
When I will have to change computer, I won't waste my time anymore, I just restore the tiny partition on any device to boot Porteus, THAT'S THE BEST!

Hi
SEMERENDO.cr.
1) Do you use ALT Linux?
2) How about to try Rosa Linux?

Well, I've been a Linux user since 2006... I installed Kubuntu 6.10, then MandrivaONE07 and fell in love.
I noticed that Gnome2 > Nautilus/Caja was faster than KDE > Konqueror
I never saw a competitive advantage in "Rosa Linux" compared to Mandriva, PCLinuxOS or OpenSUSE, but I did find in altlinux: being the fastest, being the cleanest "starter kit" and quite simple.
