Kiosk offline mode

Here you can post about the issues related to modifications performed manually (not through the kiosk wizard). Example: swapped kernel, added 3rd party modules or files.
Please describe in detail what has been changed and hopefully other kiosk user will be able to help.
Porteus team wont resolve bugs posted in this category as we support only modifications made by the kiosk wizard.

Kiosk offline mode

Hi,

I was searching for a linux distro for creating kiosks and I ended up using "Porteus-Kiosk-5.2.0". I didn't dig into it yet because I want to figure out if is the right for my case.

I have a website that is designed to use on large toucshcreens (1080x1920) and that kios displays that website. My only concern is what happens if connection to internet is lost. I have few questions about it:

1. Is possible to set a ping check to that website and if it's offline display some local content? ... and right after is back online to switch back to that site?
2. Is possible to add a web server to kiosk and run website localy and seta rsync and database sync to be up to date?
3. Is there another solution?

Thanx for all the tips

Kiosk offline mode

Hi Uros,

Offline mode would be possible in a customized build with LAMP stack included.

If you are interested in a paid solution then please contact me through builds@porteus-kiosk.org.

Thanks
