USB webcam in kiosk

Here you can post about the issues related to modifications performed manually (not through the kiosk wizard). Example: swapped kernel, added 3rd party modules or files.
Please describe in detail what has been changed and hopefully other kiosk user will be able to help.
Porteus team wont resolve bugs posted in this category as we support only modifications made by the kiosk wizard.

USB webcam in kiosk

Hi folks,
I'm using Porteus Kiosk 4.8 in a school environment and I'm very happy with it.
Now, because of COVID-19 we need to set up a usb webcam and a graphic tablet for distance learning with G Suite apps.
Has anyone tried to test webcams and graphic tablets in Porteus Kiosk? If yes, what modules do I need?

Thanx for support
bluto

USB webcam in kiosk

Hello bluto,

USB webcam should work out of the box, you can test it on this webpage:
https://www.onlinemictest.com/webcam-test/

Browser should ask you for a permission to use the webcam so make sure you have navigation bar enabled.

If you need to use the mic from the webcam then custom build with PulseAudio may be needed (just this week we have confirmed it works with kiosk 5.0.0 + Chrome + Pulseaudio).

Thanks
Please add [Solved] to your thread title if the solution was found.
