Remote control Firefox Addon

Here you can post about the issues related to modifications performed manually (not through the kiosk wizard). Example: swapped kernel, added 3rd party modules or files.
Please describe in detail what has been changed and hopefully other kiosk user will be able to help.
Porteus team wont resolve bugs posted in this category as we support only modifications made by the kiosk wizard.

Remote control Firefox Addon

Post#1 by atoudam » 27 Apr 2016, 02:47

Hi All

i have a simple kiosk install as part of a museum exhibition

we have a central control system that we would like to be able to change the current web page that Porteus-Kiosk is currently showing

i was looking at this addon for firefox

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... e-control/

if im reading this right i should be able to send a simple JS command to the correct TCP port from my 3rd party controller (something like window.location="http:/www.google.com/") and it should change the current page being viewed to google.com.

my question is, is there any reason this would not work on Porteus-kiosk? are TCP ports blocked by a firewall?

is there anything im missing here?
