Editing the whitelist after iso is built

Here you can post about the issues related to modifications performed manually (not through the kiosk wizard). Example: swapped kernel, added 3rd party modules or files.
Please describe in detail what has been changed and hopefully other kiosk user will be able to help.
Porteus team wont resolve bugs posted in this category as we support only modifications made by the kiosk wizard.

Editing the whitelist after iso is built

Post#1 by wnanthony » 15 May 2015, 07:57

Hello Everyone,

I made a mistake on an ISO i built for someone at another location.
I can't get back to that location to run the wizard again.
I simply need to add a few entries to the whitelist.
Is it possible to do this after the fact?
Where is the whitelist located in the file structure?

I appreciate any help or direction.

All the best,
Nick

Hello Nick,

Whitelist is included in the kiosk config which is encrypted and embedded in the kiosk ISO. For security reasons is not possible to update the config manually (unless remote management option is enabled). If you give me ssh access and your fixed kiosk config then I could reburn the ISO remotely.
Please send these details on support@porteus-kiosk.org if you are interested. Support fees will apply.

I have a iso that i have built and need to add a few entry's to the whitelist

can i unpack the ISO myself , modify the whitelist / config and then repack it?

sorry if this seams like a repeat of the question above, however i wasn't sure if the reason he can not do it is because he does not have the device / ISO with him.

Thanks

when it is encrypted in the OS does it end up in the setting.xzm file?

reason i ask is that i have unziped the settings file and made changes to firefox (after the setup wizard has been run)
can i simply run the setup wizard on a fresh version of Kiosk.iso (to make white list changes) then unpack the new iso, replace the settings file with my old settings file and then remake the iso?
