Serial Driver

Here you can post about the issues related to modifications performed manually (not through the kiosk wizard). Example: swapped kernel, added 3rd party modules or files.
Please describe in detail what has been changed and hopefully other kiosk user will be able to help.
Porteus team wont resolve bugs posted in this category as we support only modifications made by the kiosk wizard.

Serial Driver

Post#1 by max.muster » 16 May 2014, 07:31

Hi,

I have successfully loaded Porteus Kiosk with PXE over network. But I have a problem with serial port / com1 not load.
Is there a way to get the serial port working, because I need this as we have implemented authentication with legic card.
This works with a card reader connected on the serial port / com1. Any help would be appreciated.

I already have checked a topic (http://forum.porteus.org/viewtopic.php? ... lit=serial but the solution mentioned did not work (copy vmlinuz + 000-kernel.xzm) because the network boot hangs.
The error message is:
find: /lib/modules/3.13.6-porteus/kernel/drivers/net: No such file or directory
udhcpc: ioctl 0x8933 failed: No such device

hi max.muster,

serial drivers will be available in next version of kiosk (hoping to push it within a week or sooner) as they are needed for printing :)
you can check new kiosk website which just went alive up here:
http://porteus-kiosk.org/

if you need serial drivers now then please stick to kernel from desktop edition and update initrdpxe.xz component with drivers from it (that should let you booting over network).

thanks
