Please correct your title and the information accordingly to pcmanfm.

Why don't you simply use thunar the file manager coming with xfce?

To install pcmanfm on xfce, in command line use usm package manager to build module and then activate it:

Code: Select all

root@porteus:/mnt/sda5/64bit_v30/porteus/optional# usm -g pcmanfm

 The following items were found.
 Choose an number to confirm.
 ctrl+c to quit

1) pcmanfm-20140107_f381bc5-x86_64-1ponce.txz
2) pcmanfm-qt-0.7.0-x86_64-1alien.txz
#?
...
or use the usm gui from the panel menu into system category.

Then to start pcmanfm:

Code: Select all

root@porteus:~# pcmanfm
Or find it in the panel menu (maybe under system category).

Auto done!

Thunar is very slow. Even going to Home folder takes time.
To install pcmanfm on xfce, in command line use usm package manager to build module and then activate it:
.... root@porteus:/mnt/sda5/64bit_v30/porteus/optional# usm -g pcmanfm

Code: Select all

root@porteus:/mnt/sda12/porteus/optional# usm -g pcmanfm
bash: usm: command not found
Its not in menu. I searched 'usm' in Porteus package manager. Couldnt find it. :fool:

What version of Porteus are you using? USM is the 3rd item from the bottom of the System Tools menu.

Why are you using an older version of Porteus? 3.0 is the current one. 3.0 has USM, 2.1 has Porteus Package Manager.
root@porteus:~# usm -u
-su: usm: command not found
USM is not in 2.1.

Where did you take you porteus os? When? What version is it? What desktop are you using?

A good habit is to have this information at hand in your user profile under the distribution section.

For the changes=EXIT cheatcode read this:
http://www.porteus.org/tutoriels/45-oth ... -them.html

There is a lot of chances that you will have very few support if you use another version than the current version of porteus. :(

Everything else I use in older version is working fine.
But I understand I'll upgrade to 3.0.

Thanks all.
