Rendering Desktop Icon Label Background Transparent in XFCE

Greetings!

This is branched off from another topic

I wish to render desktop Icon text label background transparent in Porteus 2.1 32bit XFCE 4.10 while keeping the text visible through different colored screens. I do get this effect in guest mode, but in root the icon label background is always visible, even when I replace root's gtkrc 2.0 file with a copy of guests as some Porteus mavens recommend. Is it my system set-up or something built into what Xfce renders in root? Any hint much appreciated!

Horribly late response, sorry!

I took a look at this, and I think the issue is that I applied the background transparency directly to the gtkrc file for the Evolve theme. You'll want to modify the settings there, /usr/share/themes/Evolve/gtk-2.0/gtkrc

run a search for xfdesktop-icon-view and modify the label alpha and other parameters to suit your taste. I had assumed the ~/.gtkrc-2.0 file would override these settings. Of course, it could also be that ~/.gtkrc-2.0 still seems to think the theme is nodoka instead of Evolve...

I like your settings from the other thread, I'm going to tinker a bit and clean this up before 3.0.

Thanks!
