I just like Slackware because I think it teach you about Linux to build packages where Ubuntu is like Windows you just install programs you want.

If you want any I can post a link to them. If you want a module built for Mate I will try and build it. That is if I can find it.

Providing à link to the threads of interest for each package would be very handy.

Thanks.

Since I upgraded to the new 001, 002 and 003-mate now gLabels is broken. Here is the output. Any idea?

Code: Select all

guest@porteus:~$ glabels-3
glabels-3: error while loading shared libraries: libglabels-3.0.so.8: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
guest@porteus:~$ l

It is looking for this file but can't find it:
libglabels-3.0.so.8

This file is a part of glabels. Are you sure you have the glabels module activated? You can test by typing: find /usr -name libglabels-3.0*

As you can see the library is there. Double check that you downloaded the 64bit package because the library path looks to be that of a 32bit package. The library should reside in /usr/lib64

This is the package I started with glabels-3.4.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz then I use xz2txz.sh convert it to txz then I use txz2xzm to convert to xzm.

I boot up with glabels in boot path but the if I reactivate just glabels it works. I just don't know how to fix it.

Try running: ldconfig
See if glabels starts. If not then try: cache-module

Let me know how it goes. By the way you can try another update-porteus now.

Well I try ldconfig and it ran glabels. How can I fix it so if other downloads it, it will work for them?

ldconfig is a command that updates the library cache files. It is run whenever you activate a module.

After you run this command you can copy the file from /etc/ld.so.cache into your rootcopy folder.
