I use Cinnamon desktop environment. In Firefox I can choose app for magnet link (if I click on a magnet link)
If I download any torrent file, I can open context menu (right click on file-name.torrent) > Properties > Open with > and Assign default any apps

I discovered that the module I made for "Filelight" caused the same problem. Weird.
