Hi Novichok
I'm sorry, but it's not possible (for me) to find out what is wrong with that File without doing some tests.
To many possibilities.
for example:
will it play correct with my Hardware?
is the File itself damaged?
Do I have to change some player options?
Will It be better to convert the File into an other Format?
and so on
I'm really sorry
good luck

I look for among the free programs manager that can cut a piece of video from the rest of the piece, as it will cut without changing the video posted a link like this video from Provo weddings, children's matinees filmed with a Digital Camcorders AVCHD format

Hi Novichok
What I've done so far is
dowloaded the "hd_other_panasonic_the_beautiful_mysterious_ocean.m2ts" onto my
usb thumbdrive
Playback with Gnome-Mplayer..works fine, no artefacts no drop-outs no sound issues,
but a very high CPU usage. Both CPU-cores at 2Ghz and 70% usage.
Is your Hardware powerful enough?
Fast Forward and Rewind doesn't work correctly,
I opend this video in Avidemux2,
(If your video editing program wont open m2ts files,
rename them to *.mpg and try again)
avidemux asked if I want to re-index the video > yes > choose first and last video-frame
(A + B marker), in the left pane choose video = copy, audio = copy, container = mp4 >
save the File ( ignore the "audio might not be compatible" warning and do not overwrite the original File, use a different name)
Now the FF and REV buttons (in Gnome Mplayer) are working.Every click jumps ~10 sec.
also the slider and mousewheel are working
(press and hold the FF or REV buttons do not work)
this was done in XFCE bacause I do not have a Porteus KDE at the moment.
