So a specific conclusion is that gparted is not stock on porteus whatever the de in porteus 3.0.

I imagine that gparted is absent from kde edition as kde partition editor is already there.

gparted is standard in xfce and mate but it has a whole different tool set to KDE (which has KDEPM). In any case they all have: fdisk, cfdsik, gdisk

I did so too. Functional gparted under kde. Everything is back to order. 8)
