Run sleep does nothing

Post#1 by chosenbygrace » 10 Mar 2014, 23:05

When I type in the KDE search field "sleep" and run sleep pops up, clicking it has no effect. How can I put the laptop to sleep and does port. linux have the same mouse freeze on wake that all other linux distros apparently have?

Update: clicking the turn off icon in both the windows button menu, whatever it's called, and the widget? panel had no effect, however from the widget panel pulled up additional options and when clicking turn off (thinking there would be a sleep option since it had a down error) instead clicked the window away and made a echo sound, and... nothing happened.

I am running xfce. When I use sleep or hibernate, the battery gets uses up quite a bit, but nothing happens from a system standpoint. The system is still awake, and cant go into hibernate mode. Anyone else see this?

For hibernation mode please start a new thread. Unless you solve it with the following thread which explains how to do it:
