Could you please advices what we should try next?
apologies, we put out a quite old build of mate, hence blueman and dbus-python are out of date..
maybe try:
this will get the latest from slackware current, compatible with python3.8..
will look into trying to update mate..

YES! Many Thanks!
This Virtual Box guest module works perfectly.
No automount of the shared folders, but that is Virtual Box problem, as mounting the shared folders on the command line works perfectly.
Can I help with something more?

Yeah, some services are not starting during the boot, which is wrong, of course. I manually changed the main service script. Download the module again (same link) and give it a try

The Xdialog and kdialog files appear to be missing since a script I have that uses them doesn't work in 5.0.
And rc.local_shutdown is not displaying savedat file usage when shutting down.

yeah, we removed it, because there's nothing using it.. what sort of function do you use it for?

And rc.local_shutdown is not displaying savedat file usage when shutting down.
do you get any output if you run it directly in a terminal?

Porteus-CINNAMON-v5.0rc2-x86_64.iso........obviously applies to all.
For Elan touchpads.
Try this kernel
Porteus Kernel Builder (Пост Blaze #78812)
Thanks for the report.

Yes.
Code: Select all
guest@porteus:~$ cd /etc/rc.d/
guest@porteus:/etc/rc.d$ ./rc.local_shutdown
save.dat file 33% full. Used: 130M Free: 268M
guest@porteus:/etc/rc.d$
When shutting down there are 5 or 6 errors listed which may be the problem. I will try to reboot and write them down.
As for the missing dialog files I use them in this desktop script to display the usage of my savedat file.
Code: Select all
#!/bin/sh
# Add to /etc/rc.d/rc.local_shutdown. And make rc.local_shutdown executable.
# sudo chmod +x /etc/rc.d/rc.local_shutdown

kdialog is a kde thing..
Ed_P wrote: ↑22 Sep 2020, 14:07
As for the missing dialog files I use them in this desktop script to display the usage of my savedat file.
so, just a simple info dialog..
you could use /usr/share/porteus/gtkdialog.py as an alternative... '/usr/share/porteus/gtkdialog.py -h' to see the usage.. in this case, something like:
Code: Select all
/usr/share/porteus/gtkdialog.py -p "save.dat file $percent full - Used: $used - Free: $avail" -d info

roadie, what about output of
?
CONFIG_PINCTRL_AMD: AMD GPIO pin control
driver for memory mapped GPIO functionality on AMD platforms (x86 or arm). Most pins are usually muxed to some other functionality by firmware,so only a small amount is available for gpio use.
Requires ACPI/FDT device enumeration code to set up a platform device.

Blaze, dmesg shows only the fingerprint.
Code: Select all
guest@porteus:~$ dmesg | grep ELAN
[ 1.261300] usb 1-1.1: Product: ELAN:Fingerprint
[ 1.261301] usb 1-1.1: Manufacturer: ELAN
Code: Select all
guest@porteus:~$ dmesg | grep pinctrl
[ 0.217115] pinctrl core: initialized pinctrl subsystem
Looking through the config, I see this as well:
Code: Select all
# CONFIG_X86_AMD_PLATFORM_DEVICE is not set
Also:
Code: Select all
# CONFIG_MEMORY_HOTPLUG is not set
.......this one had to be y when I compiled for touchpad.
Code: Select all
# CONFIG_HOTPLUG_PCI_ACPI_IBM is not set
.......this is set as module
Code: Select all
# CONFIG_HOTPLUG_PCI_SHPC is not set
......this I set as y
These are from what I found on the net while compiling a kernel for my touchpad, I'm not sure if all are needed for other machines, ......but my touchpad wouldn't work until I had all these set.

something like:
Code: Select all
/usr/share/porteus/gtkdialog.py -p "save.dat file $percent full - Used: $used - Free: $avail" -d info
Thank you
ncmp. It does indeed work.
I've tried different options with it but all the windows look the same; -d info, -d err, -d warn. Same with -p and -s. Am I missing something?
Added in 5 hours 20 minutes 12 seconds:
Yes, missing the different icons on the left of the text and -s used with -p is not bold text. duh
