With 4.0 XFCE I got the following weird network error: when I first startup Port, all is well, the eth0 wired network gets connected okay.
But after suspend (pm-suspend) the network no longer works.
Trying to make a ping tells me "network not available" (or such), the green icon at the LAN cable female connector on the Laptop switches on to green when the LAN cable and the network switch are connected, the Switch also gives a green light when I plug in the LAN cable, but /var/log/messages gives no info, no info when I unplug the LAN cable, no info when I plug in the LAN cable.
What can I do to further debug this issue?

Network manager is from the standard XFCE iso, Version is 1.8.4, the NM applet is also from the standard XFCE iso with V1.8.10.

This is what /var/log/messages tells after connecting after a fresh reboot:

In previous post I gave you x86_64 links, sorry, correct links for your i586 are:
1. http://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackware/ ... i586-3.txz

That sucks. Funnily enough, I tried switching on WLAN on my Android, connect the Android Smartphone via USB to the laptop and activate USB tethering. Et voilà it works. Now I have a functioning "wired connection 2", but still, the cabled LAN that should be eth0 is still not working.
I hope someone knows how to fix this.

This is the log via var/loge/messages from the moment I connected the Android and activated USB tethering:

Try porteus4.0 but with kernel and vmlinuz from porteus3.2.2 and with tcl+tk, if you wish.

In Porteus 4.0 Cinnamon x86_64 I can't to connect to Internet via 3G dongle ZTE MF667

I see only name of mobile provider. In NetworkManager I Am not able to run mobile Internet. If I switch on mobile connection in NM - nothing's going on.

In Porteus-current Xfce x86_64 I don't have any problems with the same 3G dongle ZTE MF667. I can explorer Internet :)

As you can see ppp0 interface is up and Internet via 3G modem is work.

jssouza, yep, I checked ifconfig -a in Porteus 4.0 Cinnamon x86_64 (final) and ppp0 interface is absent.
I think this issue not DE - it's bug of Porteus base.

In Porteus-current I use these packages:

Code: Select all

guest@porteus:~$ find /var/lib/pkgtools/packages/ -iname *modem*
-> /var/lib/pkgtools/packages/ModemManager-1.8.0-x86_64-1

Activate xfce module after login to cinnamon - maybe will help after while without re-login. Or rename xfce that it would loaded before cinnamon and boot Porteus with these two modules - maybe some package/component is missing.

Should I try some of the modules and/or kernel/initrc to check out if it changes my issue with LAN no being recognized after suspend?

Is the md5sum of the above iso file correct?

Kodi 17.4 working in Porteus 3.2.2 crashes instantly in Porteus 4.0 (x86-64 xfce), as does an updated 17.6. dbus complains about an unknown user name "avahi" during boot, but this occurred under 3.2.2 with Kodi seeming to function. Does this relate to known problem(s); should I provide diagnostic information; can it be fixed?
