Error in Porteus-installer-for-Windows prevents making bootable USB

It looks to me like someone screwed up the magic inside "Porteus-installer-for-Windows" which is inside the boot folder of the Porteus image. Why is "D:\Windows" being given as a command? Windows happens to be on my C: drive, not that "C:\Windows" is a valid internal or external command, operable program or batch file either.

Porteus-KDE-v3.2.2-x86_64

The partition layout of the device to which I'm installing is: one FAT32 partition of 925 MB.

Code: Select all

                        _.====.._
                      ,:._       ~-_
                          '\        ~-_
                            \        \\.
                          ,/           ~-_
                 -..__..-''   PORTEUS   ~~--..__

hmmmm IMO Either the ISO you downloaded is corrupted or your Windows system has a security app or setting interfering with the Porteus install.

What key did you press when asked to "continue"?

The same thing happens regardless whether I use the Tab, X, L or SPACE keys. It worked fine when I plugged the USB drive into my Win 7 laptop, however.

The MD5 hash for the ISO matches.

Wow! Very strange. Glad the flash drive boots for you. :) And NO idea what's causing the d:/windows error.

Do you have a D: drive per chance.

What skills are required?

Another option could be to make the Windows install a txt file with instructions to use Easy2Boot. :good:
