Hi, brokenman

In relation to the slow boot, you asked if my graphics card was using a i915 driver.

Just checked the Porteus system info, and yes, the kernel driver in use is i915

Hi guys,
I'm running Cinnamon Porteus v3.2 64bit on my laptop HP Spectre (Intel Core i5 6th Gen Skylake).
Using the firefox module I have to start the internet browser from the shell command "firefox".
Anyway I notice that the graphics is very laggy.
This is the output of "lspci -v" command:

Another information: is it correct that I cannot operate on the Desktop? For example I don't see any icons on the Desktop, I cannot select with the left click of the mouse, I cannot paste a file on the Desktop. If I use Nemo file explorer, I can create (for example) a folder on the Desktop but I still don't see it on the Desktop, I see it only inside Nemo.
I hope to get support, thanks!

That's right, just checked, nothing to be seen on desktop, and am using 64 bit KDE. Browser extension always writes a file to the desktop, but not showing. However on Cinnamon 32 and 64 bit file always shows.

Quite the opposite! No bug on Cinnamon. But there seems to be a deficiency in KDE. Desktop file not showing on screen. Desktop file shows nicely in Cinnamon.

I also am running Cinnamon Porteus v3.2 64bit on my netbook and when I Right click on Firefox in my menu and select the option Add to Desktop it immediately shows up on my desktop and in my /home/guest/Desktop directory.

If I want to create a folder on the Desktop, I usually mouse right click on the Desktop and create a new folder.
When the mouse pointer is on the Desktop, mouse does not feel any button. Why?
Anyway, opening Nemo, entering on the Desktop path and creating a folder "test", I don't see any icon on the Desktop.

I cannot run KDE for the Intel Graphics issue: the operations are too laggy, also when opening the start menu.
I am waiting since the 2015 for a good Linux distribution for my HP Spectre but still after 1 year there is not a full working distribution based on Slackware...

Also experienced that, as Nouveau won't do for KDE. Then got the my Nvidia driver, and could just about play an embedded video. Increased swap with a GiB swap file (memory only 879 MiB), which eased things a bit. But the real advance came, upon managing to get KDE off a loop on a device, and into RAM. So with Nvidia driver and KDE both in RAM, playing back a video in browser seems to go reasonably well. At the moment trying to see if can improve on this.

I too experience a very laggy firefox using i7 with intel graphics.

Kalo86 make sure you have no changes or extra modules when testing the desktop folder issue. It should act as a normal directory. You should be able to right click and create stuff on the desktop in cinnamon.

From memory, nemo controls the desktop so make sure you haven't killed the service or something like that.

Hi brokenman, I am using a clean Cinnamon Porteus v3.2 64bit.
My modules folder is empty and in base folder I have only the stock module files.
The mouse righ click only works inside Nemo, not on the Desktop.
Is there something I can do in order to debug?

I have now got my 3.2 32-bit final with MATE booting in around 40 - 45 secs
by replacing the kernel with 4.7.2 (from rc5)

I just got online. Let me reboot into cinnamon and check it out.

Thanks Philip. I will use the config file from this kernel and rebuild the latest to see if an extra option has caused this. If it comes down to the kernel graphics module then there is little I can do.

Sorry Kalo,

You can't right click on desktop in cinnamon (making four desktops, I sometimes get confused). In the settings you can choose if you want certain folders displayed on the desktop. Please look at nemo settings and see if there is an option to allow it.

I am building the latest version of Cinnamon right now and there are a few bugs.

Ok Brokenman, it's ok, then it is not a "bug".
I would like to solve the lag on Intel Graphics since the Linux distribution is not really usable in this way...
Do you have an advice please?
Thanks!

Perhaps hunt around the arch forums and see if others have experienced this problem.
