Hi, northpeter1954.
Probably, this issue will be fixed, when Porteus ships with Linux kernel 4.7.3 (with AMDGPU updated drivers) or higer.

Thanks for the prompt and helpful diagnosis Blaze, I'm holding my breath for 4.7.3 :unknown: .
Would it be an idea to have restrictions topic for problems that will occur on always fresh startup ?

@ Mate x86_64 rc5

I just just lost all icons on all 4 Desktop and I was in Firefox when it happen. When I log out to root the icons were there then I log back to guest the icons were back. Just to let you know about it or what happen.

@Jack Should be able to refresh them by going to Whisker >> Settings >> Appearance >> Icons and switch to another and back without needing to switch accounts. I think I reported before about it showing a warning that it messing cache file there. One time my Desktop icons got replaced with crosses I think if it same thing, can't remember if it was Firefox.

Edit: Keyboard switched to English US by itself again. I try the one under Settings >> Keyboard instead of the one in Porteus Settings Centre and hope the setting perm saves.

Can I ask what is Whisker cause it not in Mate at lease I can't see it? And it was just as easy to do what I did to cause more problem what you said. Maybe it might work but when I did it before a long time ago it cause more problem.

Thanks for the observation. Omittted update of usm.conf. Proceeded to dynamically change preferences by sedding usm.conf in guiexec. Resulted in over 2 days trying to isolate rc5 bug, whereby mouse pointer froze after couple of hours. into session. (Reverted to rc4 which ran a whole day without problem. Changed around guiexec and rootcopy rc5 then ranabout 2hr 20m before losing mouse pointer. Trying rc5- lost pointer shortly afte Cinnamon loaded. Loaded rc4 once more, and this time pointer lost quite quickly. Also had noticed gpm mouse cursor absent, Intermittent errors most probably hardware based. Checked Xorg.0.log, and no sign of mouse.Lights on hub showiing erratically. Plugged mouse directly, tried rc5 and all OK!)

        brokenman, at this site http://linux.softpedia.com/

        I builded modules xf86-video-amdgpu 1.1.1 and xf86-video-ati 7.7.1 for x86_64 arch with this configuration

        Code: Select all

        Seems all ok or not?
