My output is different. First I installed flashplayer via usm: flashplayer-plugin-11.2.202.632-x86_64
Interesting that it says: [OK] Flash is not installed

In Linux Chrome supports newer flashplayer versions than Firefox. :(

http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

So update-flash needs to know for what browser? Or for whatever USM checks for?

Re: [Solved] Porteus-v3.2rc5 bug reports_language_pack

Post#36 by Payoon » 06 Sep 2016, 14:35

Hi folks,
when I want to install the language pack via the porteus settings centre the system exits, because it doesn't find an internet connection.
But I am connected to the internet absolutely sure. I have to mention, that I am connected via pppoe ( no router), but for example in porteus 2.1 this didn't matter.
Otherwise very nice work.
Payoon

P.S. I used xfce with 32bit

Blaze just to be straight. You started from a fresh Porteus install (in english) and chose the ru option?
No.

Ok, I tested it in Always Fresh mode and I have the same story (exept locale not supported by Xlib, locale set to C and /usr/lib64/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/engines/lib murrine.so)

Plus, these bugs
brokenman, plus I saw that your localization is have a bug in Text mode - cyrillic text does not support. The squares instead of text.
You are need to apply console-cyrillic-0.9-16.2-3.2-noarch-1 module and script (you can put it to /etc/rc.d/rc.local) with this command

Code: Select all

cyr ru alt_shift_toggle --style=sans --size 16 -e utf-8

And for whatever reason the current version from USM doesn't work with Firefox. I've tried it from 2 different USM sources with the same result. The prior version worked with Firefox, sorry I deleted it.

-BUT-

If I run update-flash, as root, to completion and activate the 22.0.0.209 Flashplayer plugin that it creates Firefox does indeed work with the plugin. But it reports the plugin as being 11.2.202.632!!

Hey it works and that's all that counts. :good:

mate 64
used update-chrome (no connection error with firewall on)(was using kde for previous update-* s)
with no (extra)flashplugin installed, adobe reports vers 22.0.0.209
which is this:
opt/google/chrome/PepperFlash/libpepflashplayer.so

in case you missed it : http://fossbytes.com/adobe-plans-to-sup ... x-systems/
so even though firefox and palemoon don't version it correctly, its definately 22.*

asunder has same firewall issue here in mate(rips fine)

You are need to apply console-cyrillic
Please excuse m ignorance but does anyone know where I can get a list of locales that use a cyrillic font?

I think it's an update-flash problem not exiting after noting it's not being run as root.
Indeed. Thanks. Fixed on the server now.

when I want to install the language pack via the porteus settings centre the system exits, because it doesn't find an internet connection.
Thanks. I have changed the way an internet connection is checked now. Please try again.

BTW, the path /ru-cinnamon_locales/usr/share/locale/rue/LC_MESSAGES is wrong. Not rue, must to be ru (without e)
When you choose en all sublocales are also chosen (en_GB,en_AU). The same with ru (rue).

Also, I've done the update-opera again. This time with the changes container. It showing 2 in Whisker menu again and it added an icon to Panel. It's working how it should. Just duplicate icons in Whisker.
I am not sure why the the entry in the dekstop file NoDisplay is not neing honoured.

Sorry for my last post not being on target. However, it will be of some use on another thread on adjusting kde5, once porteus 3.2 will be released. I have edited the above post to provide the solutions.

Presently on a less responsive computer than my toshiba satellite z930, a Dell desktop on which I choose to use xfce porteus 3.1.

kde5 seems more responsive than kde4 v 3.1. However, sometime there is freezing of the keyboard under firefox, but also in a less annoying manner under konsole, but after using firefox. This happen at times, at other times there is no problem at all. These stroke sentences is an edit after changing for my mouse and keyboard batteries.

I found this by accident just now. If you have root Thunar open and viewing USM folder, then run USM in root Terminal. While packages are being processed for dependencies or when they converting to modules, closing Thunar closes Terminal like it they linked part of same application.

Also, this happened when I tried to check again about install option. I choose no but later says installing unless it different install when converting packages to modules part.

Code: Select all

root@porteus:/home/guest# usm -g kate

 Usm is already active.

If this information is not correct, you can remove the following file and rerun the script:
/var/lock/usm
I can confirm there wasn't another visible USM Terminal or GUI except when I entered just that Terminal.

Edit 1: When I used "usm" and "usm -g kate" again in same Terminal after that, it seemed to allow me without removing the file it refers to.

Edit 2: Confirmed, I choose no for installing packages and it actually installing them after they downloaded.
New to Linux but learning. Hoping to help out Porteus community. :)

@ brokenman The recognition of the internet connection works fine now. Thanks for that. But when downloading glibc-i18-586 jay 1 the system hangs, because it can't download that library. After pressing cancel it continues downloading the other modules. I dowloaded glibc-i18n-2.23-i586-1 with usm et voila now everything works.

Payoon

!!!!!!!!! Warning!! Please do not try to do the same.
After writing the above I couldn't shut down the desktop and all buttons were dead.
It seems there is some allergy against that glibc-i18n library (with the words of a layman).
