That's a cool script fastest-mirror.

Here is one that has Porteus but not current. http://slackware.uk/

I just like Slackware because I think it teach you about Linux to build packages where Ubuntu is like Windows you just install programs you want.

It will update the porteus.conf file with the fastest mirror. Scripts that download from the server look into this file for the server address.

If you know of any other mirrors that are not on the list please let me know. I am slowly emailing mirror providers and building the list.

EDIT:
Just tested asunder cd ripper and found that it freezes (for this particular CD) shortly after getting CD info. Can anyone confirm?

Hi. Before all thanks for work.
I tried to install Porteus-MATE-v3.2rc5-x86_64
I used MATE - version.
The network apple seems not work and resolv.conf is not updated with dhcp address which is assigned correctly to eth0.
Any ideas ?

paper-icon-theme was updated 23 days ago. Time to update this icons set.

Now I use guest account, because root account not stable for me - pulseaudio, I can't to do icons on the Desktop, right click on the Desktop does not work, poweroff-restart menu not able for me and etc... (many troubles)

I informed about this before. I have this trouble with DHCP too. I solved this problem in nm-applet via ignore (disable) IPv6 option.

IPv6 not stable in all releases of Porteus (tested on two PC configurations).

Porteus-XFCE-v3.2rc5-i586
Tested with Always Fresh mode.
  • Unable to connect to WiFi directly. - I click on WiFi on Panel and then on my WiFi name, entered the correct password and it doesn't do anything. Unless I use "Connect to Hidden WiFi Network..." in WiFi menu. This issue didn't exist on 3.1 and 3.2rc4. Also I think the menu tends to lag more now.
  • USM 3.2.0 keeps saying there an update available. - Even though I've updated it 2 times just now with Update USM in the Update menu, closed it and reopened it. Also when I try to download Opera with USM it shows there's a program and database update available.
  • USM showing 2 "Edit pounce mirror" in its Settings menu. - I think the update caused this.
  • Activating Module causing "Failed to restart the panel" error. - This exists on Porteus 3.1. This happens when choosing to open storage after downloading modules with USM GUI and activating the module in Thunar (root) which was opened by USM. Closing Thunar (root) and USM and then directly opening Thunar (root) to activate the module doesn't cause this error. I think it also messed up the Desktop icons with crosses one time because of the refreshing.
  • Whisker menu doesn't show guest name but does in root account. - I don't know if this was intended or not.
  • Clicking the big user icon in Whisker menu causes an error of "Failed to edit profile".
I don't know if it's important but I think I catch warnings and error messages in the terminal when Porteus is starting up, changing user first time and shutting down. But it disappears before I can read it properly.

Do you want me to make a new post about more bugs or append to current post if I find anymore?

Edit: Forgot to mention. Not really a bug but. I think "create live USB" in the Whisker menu is in the wrong casing and should be "Create Live USB" in title-case. Because "create" is in lowercase, it is at the bottom of the System menu.
New to Linux but learning. Hoping to help out Porteus community. :)

Why don't you use update-opera in Terminal as root and let it build it for you. I build FireFox that way.

Have you done update-opera yet. When last I knew brokenman mentioned some sort of issue with it.

@ FURRY_NOVA
Drawing upon my experience I should do a new post, otherwise will be buried in the flurry of bug reports that will be coming in.

No I haven't try but I think brokenman rebuilt the script. I would try but it you about 4 or 5 choices and I don't which to use to try or I would.

I pick stable and I'm building right now. He need the 32bit version someone else will have to build it for him.

The stable built ok all I needed to do is convert it from txz to xzm.
I just like Slackware because I think it teach you about Linux to build packages where Ubuntu is like Windows you just install programs you want.

I just used update-opera. Seems stable after converting it to xzm. Took a while for the package to build in Terminal though before converting it after. Quick installing from txz package makes a duplicate icon in Whisker menu but seems fine in xzm format. Thanks. :) I don't know why USM only has up to version 12 though.

I was thinking about going back to version 31 till 32 looked more stable but I think I stick with it now, was just concerned about it corrupting a container with all those error and warning messages in Terminal. I'm really loving the icon improvements. Plus I can keep helping out reporting bugs till final release. :friends:
New to Linux but learning. Hoping to help out Porteus community. :)

What version did your make? The copy I made was opera-39.0.2256.48-x86_64-1.xzm.

This whole thing should be in it own thread can it be moved?

Cinnamon 64-bit

Keyboard icon in Taskbar shows icon for Spanish keyboard. Mine should be US. Unable to change it to US. Keyboard keys producing unexpected characters.

Removable Drives icon in Taskbar shows all fixed harddrive partitions.

Cursor stays on minimized window icon on taskbar when clicking on the icon rather then switching to the reopened window.
