looks like Slackonlys' server is down... lets hope its temporary...
maybe even a major upgrade related to the recent Slackware 14.2 release or some improvement to slackrepo repo builder? (pure speculation)

USM works again I just updated all.
I just like Slackware because I think it teach you about Linux to build packages where Ubuntu is like Windows you just install programs you want.

Jack, we are need to wait
brokeman - he will fix it.
Or you can try these commands in terminal
Code: Select all
sed -i 's/14.2/14.1/' /etc/slackware-version
sed -i 's/||.*]//' /usr/share/usm/funcsystemSetup
Linux 6.6.11-porteus #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Sun Jan 14 12:07:37 MSK 2024 x86_64 Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1270 v6 @ 3.80GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

Hi. I have got the exact same problem as the OP. I tried Blaze's commands but no response in terminal and the problem persists. Any suggestions?

The OP just ran an update and it finished without a problem.
Do note the OP is running a 64-bit system where as you are running a 32-bit one thus pulling different files. And maybe even from different servers than the OP, S. Africa vs USA..
The
Blaze commands have no bearing on the problem you're having.
You will have to wait for
brokenman to fix the problem.

If you are running Porteus v3.1 you will need to have version 14.1 in your usm.conf file. If you ran the commands from Blaze you will need to revert them manually. Next open up /etc/usm/mirrors-slackware.txt and change the mirror in there to something near you.

My sincere apologies. On closer inspection, my problem is slightly different to OP.

Ok, so I've checked that I've got 14.1 in my usm.conf file and I've have tried a variety of mirrors, but the problem persists. Also, I am using 3.1 x64 MATE now.

Slightly offtopic. Been using usm -i <pckage>, but that, without package is great, providing almost all the additional information I like to have at one go, when skipping between desktops, versions, and architecture.
