Hi all!
Tried Porteus 3.2 rc3 (cinnamon) and the problem still exist
Kriss wrote:Hi all!
I tried porteus 3.2rc2 x86_64 xfce as a "clean" xfce variant and as a part of custom monstrocity.

In both cases I had these 2 problems (they're not kernel's fault as kernel 4.5.3-porteus works fine with other modules and porteus 3.1 among them):
1)At work (gigabyte mb), phone connected to usb doesn't charge and reconnects each second

Sent you a PM

EDIT:
It seems an iso created with genisoimage can be opened in MC. One created with mkisofs can not. There is another issue on the forum related to this so I will try to get to the bottom of it. Thanks for testing.
How do i become super user?

@Kriss
doesn't charge and reconnects each second
For my older phone have had the same in USB2.0 port, USB3.0 was ok, last boot I have restored default settings in BIOS (switch on legacy usb) and now it is solved for me.

Re: Porteus-v3.2rc3 Bug Reports

Hi, not sure if its been reported or not. The KDE rc3 has some issues with not displaying any images that I tested in Gwenview, gif or jpg. I cant recall if I tested png images or not. Im in a hurry at the moment or Id be more precise. I also noticed that at least as far as images go, and I believe videos as well, Dolphin does not seem to remember file extension associations. Gwenview doesnt remember when I set it to open images and Smplayer doesnt remember any videos either. It seems to just not be able to retain any type of file extension associations at all. Just a heads up. Ill be back to give more feedback later. Gotta run, and thanks for all the great work! :D

edit: By not displaying images(Gwenview), I mean that even if you force Gwenview to open an image(because nothing seems to retain any file extension associations I set), you get an error message inside of Gwenview, like it doesnt support that type of image. They are just normal jpg and gif images though. Ill post the error message when I get a chance tomorrow. Thanks again.

EDIT:
It seems an iso created with genisoimage can be opened in MC. One created with mkisofs can not. There is another issue on the forum related to this so I will try to get to the bottom of it. Thanks for testing.
I have 3 testing setups: Porteus 3.1, Porteus 3.2rc3 and my "Frankenstein" made of 4.5.3-porteus kernel+Porteus 3.1 initrd+ 473 Slackware modules (done with txz2xzm)
I tried to open Porteus 3.2 rc3 ISOs
Porteus 3.1 - Ok
"Frankenstein" - Problem
Porteus 3.2rc3 - Problem

Phone is Xiaomi mi2s
Tested it in USB 3.0 and USB 2.0
Similarly to above:
Porteus 3.1 - Ok
"Frankenstein" - Ok
Porteus 3.2rc3 - Problem

The strange part is that nothing was removed in the kernel from 4.5.3 to the current used kernel. Can you tell me which kernel module the phone uses?
How do i become super user?

It's not the kernel, I tested it with 4.5.3 kernel in my quoted message (It's a kernel from Porteus 3.2 rc2).
In both cases I had these 2 problems (they're not kernel's fault as kernel 4.5.3-porteus works fine with other modules and porteus 3.1 among them)
Works fine = doesn't have this problem.
(sorry, sometimes I'm not speaking clearly or saying something strange)

But I have problem with USB tethering for newer phone, after a while NetworkManager stops ("Network Manager in not running...") so I can't enable even another connections (the same for another tried distros, systemd?). How to restart NetworkManager? For Porteus-v3.1 I have not this problem.

About mc and opening iso files:
Activating cdrtools 3.01a17 from Slackware 14.1 did the trick for "Frankenstein", will try Porteus 3.2 at the morning.
Activating cdrtools 3.01 from slackware-current broke the thing again...
Suggestions/corrections/additions are always welcome.

USM Issue

Message about missing database files, and so having to do update which crashes in slackware.

Changed to two different slackware mirrors.

Tried again today with original slackware mirror setting:

Downloading: vercheck.txt DONE
Downloading: CHECKSUMS.md5 DONE
Downloading: MANIFEST.bz2 DONE
Downloading: PACKAGES.TXT DONE
Downloading: LIBS.TXT.gz DONE
There was a problem downloading the file:

Boot Loader Limitation / Kernel Command Line Limitation :unknown:

Ran out of Boot Loader / Kernel Command Line, so dispensed with volume and timezone, in order to fit in rammod and extramod. Not having volume set does not seem to matter much, and even timezone seems irrelevant, as correct local time is being displayed. Noticed this to be the case wth kde5 when timezone was not specified at boot time. Maybe getting time from Internet, renders this parameter superfluous?
