file date/time stamps

The date/time stamp of files written to Windows readable volumes (NTFS, FAT32, FAT16) by Porteus appear to be GMT date/time when viewed in Windows systems' Windows Explorer.

Actually the difference is -4 hrs. A file created by Porteus at 1:00am shows as 9:00pm the day before. GMT/UTC would be -5 hrs.

My time stamps of files in Porteus show local time of creation.
My clock shows also local time.
When I hover the mouse over the clock, a popup shows local time and UTC correctly.
Hack until you get the same result and you are in.

Well, my BIOS shows my System Time as being 19:18.
Windows shows my time as being 7:17, UTC-0500 Eastern Time
Porteus shows my time as being 7:30 PM

The test.sh file shows as 10:44 AM in Windows, and as 14:44 in Porteus. The latter time is when I last saved the file.
Now, having a career in banking I like numbers to be consistent, across all OSs; Windows, OS X, iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Linux, whether amounts, dates or times.
Any other ideas?

You did not understand my post.
Please state what you get, when you hover the mouse over the clock. If you don't get it right, then your Porteus is not configured correctly.
Porteus is right, your configuration may be wrong, I meant.

Ok. I get a long banner just over the time that shows, at this point:
Monday, June 9, 2014 11:19 PM Local time zone must be set-- see zic manual page
If I right click on the time and click on Configure "Date and Time" or Configure Panel... I don't see anything relating to a Local time zone.
Do note I am referring to the time in the lower right hand corner of the desktop, not the clock in the upper right corner. Hovering over it with the mouse displays nothing.

if you use 'timezone=' cheatcode then try to remove it this way porteus will stick to the 'localtime' (time from BIOS - same as windows).

Confused. Many timezones according to /usr/sbin/timeconfig. Do I use timezone=right/US/Eastern, posix/US/Eastern, Etc/GMT-5, America/New_York, US/Eastern, or ?? Many choices. And are you saying that I use it, boot with it, then remove it and reboot?
Sorry, but I don't understand what you want me to do.

Configure date and time settings>New York
Then make a module>etc>localtime, that's all
