I've pushed the above error fix to the github ready for merging into next version.
But when I later reboot and my save.dat file is created
I don't quite understand what you mean here.
Put simply, if you change a file or create one, it is added to your 'changes' file/folder. If you don't change or create it then it is not. Your 002-xorg module doesn't get added to your changes folder and in the same way, a module from your modules folder doesn't either. Please leave this thread for bug reports only. Questions should go in the thread under 'community effort'.
The procedure I mentioned there for creating a module is for use in fresh mode.

I tested the latest USM in slackware 14.1 i486, worked well, but in the end appears the option of merged the modules. The correct is this option does not appear when using slackware.
thanks

Can you think of any differences that might allow me to further troubleshoot?
Commands were always:
usm -g vlc
Repeated a second time with full o/p up to FATAL ERROR in my

2nd post of 5th Aug. No occurrence of error after update to KDEv3.0.1. Could be gone or be a slumbering bug.

Thanks Slaxmax. Will do further testing on slackware.
Bogomips, thanks and keep me updated if the error returns.

Hi,
Just found Ekiga 4.0.1 downloaded from USM is missing OpenLDAP deps which is available on USM as well.
Pitivi missing gst-python so unable to start.

running usm as installed with 3.01, it has a couple of quirks i've found i thought i might mention.
one, if i am running it from guest account, which means i had to give the root pass, then when it has downloaded the packages and asks me if i want to open the folder, if i click yes, nothing happens, i'm guessing because it's trying to run the file manager as root and, if it runs, it can't connect to my display, or something like that, i don't know, just a guess in the dark.
two, if a search returns too many results, usm is dead in the water then, it can't do any more actions once it hits that error, i have to restart it.

Hi,
Strange thing happened today. I have updated usm using usm -u all and the sbo seems like not getting updated.
Code: Select all
# usm -u all
alien was already updated today. Skipping.
salix was already updated today. Skipping.
slacky was already updated today. Skipping.
ponce was already updated today. Skipping.
slackware was already updated today. Skipping.
slackwarepatches was already updated today. Skipping.
Downloading: extra-deps.txt DONE
I have copied the missing sbo folder from older usm -u all version and able to build gst-python
You will need gst-plugins-base-0.10 and gstreamer-0.10
http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=PJwVTErd
But Pitivi still refused to start.
Code: Select all
# pitivi

Thanks router.
cttan, you can update sbo manually: usm -u sbo
pitivi is going to require at least
python
pygtk
pygobject
pycairo
gst-python
pyxdg (should get you past your last error)
goocanvas
pygoocanvas
gnonlin
zope
and probably more.
Please keep this thread on track cttan and post somewhere else about getting pitivi to run. Thanks.

@brokenman
you probably find this before you even see this post but i decided to try usmgui from terminal, and got this one more tiny nugget of info on the issue:
Couldn't exec /tmp/usm/xine-ui-0.99.7: Permission denied
(downloading xine and specified that it should make a subfolder, the above is the folder name)
also don't know if this matters to anything but when i first ran it i got:
widget_comboboxtext_input_by_file(): Couldn't open '/tmp/usm.HxAyFu/sbo-categories.tmp' for reading.

Thanks router will check it out.
Bogomips I couldn't reproduce this just now under 64bit but will try in 32bit tomorrow. I pushed a database update tonight. There were updates in the alien repo.
