This is the alien changelog.

-----------
Thu Apr 16 17:46:50 UTC 2015
vlc: updated to 2.2.1.
-----------

The automated USM system will update the database every three days. After the next update it should be fine. I don't think it is required to update it everyday due to the load it puts on our server. Thanks.

Check and working after database updated. There seems to be another problem with the automated update system. I am waiting for Hamza's feedback to resolve it.

xfce usm gui

i make one search by package, then i change the search type to keyword, and search stops working altogether, no results in any search type, after restarting program the same story takes place, i can make searches, but when i click on keyword button search stops working

databases update good as of today

usm has small selection of packages in repos, few web browsers, no console emulators, no retroarch, users download packages from elsewhere, which is bad

Thanks Seva. I confirmed the keyword search bug. I have fixed this and added a more appropriate message when search results are too numerous. Due for next release.
As for the package count. USM searches across 5 slackware repositories. Whatever they have is what USM can find. Lack of packages in slackware repositories is a common complaint but this is unfortunately out of our hands.

I know this has been asked a million times. but I am using XFCE now, if I open USM and update the databases in order to search I must leave the application and start it again in order for it to work, I can't see myself doing that every time I start the application or to start the application in the terminal. I have use Porteus since the beginning and never tried the USM, when it works is fine , I downloaded the latest from the git site.

Is there a question in there somewhere? Unfortunately the application must be restarted in order to refresh. The other option is for USM to kill itself forcefully in which case you would need to restart anyway. I think the better option is to ask permission.

Wouldn't USM unmounting & remounting the USM file folders be enough to refresh it?

Unfortunately no. There are certain environment variables that can only be exported by rerunning the application.

Are we talking about the gui or the cli or both? I do not notice some problem with the cli.

This is only with the GUI. The CLI is refreshed every time a command is run.

See the suggestion posted here: http://forum.porteus.org/viewtopic.php? ... 009#p36842
It seems reasonable and doable. :)
