back forward arrows

Post#1 by Seq_Res » 10 Feb 2011, 04:14

When in remix everything is okay, but in porteus, 'back', 'forward' and all other arrows cannot be shown. They look
very uncomfortable, like these:

Everything looks fine here. I believe you are the first one to have this problem, and i am sure others would have definitely noticed this. Is this the root account or have you made a guest account?

I will upload the firefox module for you, if you don't mind can you delete the one you have and try a clean one?

Yes , if you use a guest account , you have not an access to /root/.firefox or /root/.mozilla for config file .

Please put the module in your optional folder and try activating after boot. If it fails to activate please issue: file /path/to/firefox.lzm and post the output.

You still havn't stated if you are using root account?

@brokenman,
I use root, only root and 'always fresh'.
@karis,
I tried it again; first put in 'mudule' folder, then in 'base'; in both cases, I got error message from mazilla--which is a pop-up window,
i think you must know. When I tried to restore the original one, system failed, error message occupied almost a whole screen.
this time I let at stayed there for quiet a long time and gave an 'analysis', then recorded only several lines:
[ 90.2266686] BUG: unable to handle the kernel paging request at f8287ad0
....<several lines, show something like IP... SMP...all the system devices ...>...
[ 90.2270000] Pid : 3338, comm: kfind not tainted 2.6.37-porteus #1 P5QPL-AM/System Product Name
.... < lines >.....
[ ..............] <here show register values like EAX= EBX=...
---- < lines > ....
[ ...............] Stack .....
[ ] Call trace ......
possibly it is a result of hardware failure; but such things never happened in remixV09.

Re: back forward arrows-libiconv problem?

Post#10 by Seq_Res » 23 Feb 2011, 02:13

I reinstalled porteus to the same usbkey and found that it is probably the module libiconv makes the faults.
without libiconv, firefox workds, but some other applications need it.
