unabe to extract xzm modules

Post#1 by ralcocer » 30 Sep 2013, 12:10

I though I give mate a try since I read Linux Mint is going to use Mate instead of Gnome , I am trying to feel the desktop using all the options available, however trying to extract a module is impossible as guest or as root. Everything else seems to work so far.

Thanks, great work

Rafael, you do not mention which desktop you are using where you cannot extract xzm modules; declare it so you will get some help! :)

Regards!

Yes he mentions the MATE desktop. Make sure the modules you are extracting are in a writable folder because they will be extracted to the same folder. Right clicking on the module should give you an option to extract the module. The same script is used across all desktops so this should work. If you are guest, the first thing you should see is a password window to enter the root password. Please explain how you are trying to extract the module.

It could happen that you save change folder corrupt the operation. I have the same problem on kde. Try in always fresh mode.

Same Problem
fresh mate-install to usb (ext2), first boot (guest), copied a module
from Hdd (so the folder is writeable), rightclick the module > extract option > nothing happens.

Sorry, I was wrong. I have the same problem to extract xzm module after verification under kde. There are also problem to use the dialog box (right clicking to convert deb and txz files into xzm). :(

Thanks I will check it out and push an update to fix it. There was a change of folder name for the context-menu scripts in v2.1 so perhaps I didn't update the action. In MATE you can look under caja-actions in the menu system and check that the script path is correct. You can also create your own custom right click actions using a GUI.

It is the wrong path, as brokenman said,
for MATE change in caja-actions:
/opt/porteus-scripts/fmanager/extract-module
to
/opt/porteus-scripts/context-menu/extract-module
