[Solved ]When opening menus of apps it closes

Post#1 by xtudiux » 26 Apr 2013, 02:24

hello,

I dont know if this a bug or just an annoyance...when i updated my transmission to 2.75 or 2.77...
It opens but cant access the menus because it just closes...

Same happen also when choose in audacious...in audacious, when i choose interface to winamp classic, it changes to winamp but when I clicked on its equalizer menus...it closes or crashes...Once I open it again it goes back to its gtk interface...

:D

Hopefully some can duplicate this one...

Welcome, xtudiux!

Please let us know which version (2.0 I'm assuming), desktop environment you're running (razor or xfce), and where you got the updated transmission package (and how you installed it). Please also try to reproduce it in "always fresh" mode and without saved changes if you are using them. That will help us pinpoint it :)

Thanks!
Please take a look at our online documentation, here. Suggestions are welcome!

Hmmm..still the same...transmission 2.75 or 2.77 closes when clicking on the preferences menu...
audacious also closes once you switch to winamp interface..then clicking the import winamp presets... :)

i got my transmission from alien (2.77)...then i got it from sbo(2.75)...also the ppm is acting strange when i downloaded from sbo...it says no file on the folder...i have to manually download the transmission 2.75 and put it on the folder before it compiles... :)

Ok, thanks!

I wasn't able to reproduce the issue with either program, but since their behavior is so similar, it seems likely that there is a common cause.

When I tried to download transmission last night, I didn't see it in the alien repo, so I tried to download it from SBO through the porteus package manager and it failed to download, justs like it did for you. However, when I tried it again this morning, everything worked fine. I did have to edit the slackbuild to remove the qt interface (dont' forget to click save!), and I still am not reproducing the issue. Here's a module I built from it: http://porteus-xfce.googlecode.com/file ... -1_SBo.xzm

Would you please run psinfo and put the contents on pastebin? You can run 'xpsinfo', click 'dump full report', and hit yes to do this automatically.

Please also try starting these programs in a terminal, hopefully we'll get some kind of useful information in the output. I get some gtk and glib errors out of both programs when they start up, but they don't close down on me like they do for you. Have you changed any of the settings, such as the theme?

Thanks!

Yes, if you choose to dump the full report in xpsinfo, it will then give you an option to automatically upload the contents to pastebin.ca; once it does that you can copy that address here as a link, to avoid posting the full report here.

What program are you using to connect to your router? Perhaps it's not Network Manager, and it requires some of the modules you have added to the system? In always fresh mode, only the modules from /porteus/base (starting with 00) are loaded.

When you boot into always fresh mode, do you have the same issue with the windows closing? If not, then the issue is an incompatibility somewhere in your added modules or it's something inside your saved changes.

If everything works OK in Always Fresh mode, then reboot again with your usual commands, except remove 'changes=/porteus' from your cheatcodes (press tab at the boot menu if you're using the standard EXTLINUX bootloader and you can edit the cheatcodes there). If the error returns there, then the issue is with one of your modules, and I'll do my best to recreate your module list on my end to test and try to reproduce the issue. If the error doesn't return there, then there's something in your saved changes that is causing this -- some setting change or program you've installed as a txz or other package without converting to a module.

Thanks!
Please take a look at our online documentation, here. Suggestions are welcome!

I'm already in always fresh...the audicious still closing when i choose winamp interface then going to the equi then import the winamp's presets...
the transmission 2.75 is already running in always fresh but when i try to open the preferences...still it closes abruptly...

anyway i'll try to removed the changes...or download a new bases...
