hi xtudiux,

I'm not sure I understand, and I'm sorry for dragging this out so long. If you are booting into 'always fresh' mode (select it from the boot menu when you start up Porteus), then your saved changes and all extra modules should be gone from your system. This command:

Code: Select all

grep -A1 Changes /var/log/porteus-livedbg
should return this result:

Code: Select all

# Changes are stored in:
memory
If your changes are not stored in memory, then you are still using saved changes. All you need to do in order to temporarily boot without these saved changes is either select 'always fresh' from the boot menu on startup, or you can highlight another menu item, press tab, then use the arrow keys and backspace to remove "changes=/porteus" from the bootloader config line, then press enter to boot up without saved changes. The next time you boot up without doing this, your saved changes will be present in the system once again.

If you are already using 'always fresh' mode without any saved changes and the problem is still there, please do try downloading the ISO again, then burn the ISO to a cd, boot into it, and test to see if the problem is still there. If it is, then try it on another computer if possible, just to make sure there's not some odd hardware conflict.

Thank you for your patience and help in getting this fixed!
Please take a look at our online documentation, here. Suggestions are welcome!

I will be downloading the iso as we speak.

Its a little weird. Here are the md5sum:
Porteus std : 5d07c127bd8731d5d0a8d860f6ad81c4
Porteus xfce: 95c3141d1b16e8d48ec7d6492111bead

But when I check the md5sum of the components there some slight difference:
Porteus std:
  • 7e548c9ffe5db05a0c9452a312773e97 *X:\porteus\base\000-kernel.xzm
    8c6e1c5a6d9ffaf554769cb3c31889ac *X:\porteus\base\001-core.xzm
    a9fa19eb8a280e7198ce18ae1a3319ff *X:\porteus\base\002-xorg.xzm

    f1fc309019e338a9d4d614ca8fb493e0 *X:\porteus\base\008-firefox.xzm
Porteus xfce:
  • 7e548c9ffe5db05a0c9452a312773e97 *X:\porteus\base\000-kernel.xzm
    88bf2ab66fe7c11b1593899e09a2aee9 *X:\porteus\base\001-core.xzm

the 001-core.xzm, 002-xorg.xzm, 007-devel.xzm are different.

I should be the one thanking you.

Hello again,

I use the xfce one since that is the one I'm using. When I compare it the one I have, there was a corruption on the first one I used. Just my luck, the 001-core,002-xorg & 008-firefox was corrupted. The md5sum didnt match.

Now, the audacious winamp interface now works, the transmission 2.75 preferences now works also. :D ...I was also able to download the transmission on slacky which is 2.77. the 2.77 on alien is no longer available though. That was a case of bad download. Though I'm now experiencing the corruption of fonts on command buttons which was not prominent on the first one - like the ok button on the porteus package manager, when you click it, it becomes garbage - that I can live with. Though not always.

Thanks for the help, Ahau. This was very interesting. :Yahoo!:
