unnecessary references to slax,slax-remix name in Porteus

Post#1 by fanthom » 11 Jan 2011, 09:49

As stated by the changelog:
"- all scripts and docs updated with new name - Porteus. please help us with finding typos and still exisiting, unnecessary references to old name: slax-remix"

please post findings related to old name in this thread for 32bit edition.
we are aware of /porteus/slaxsave.zip and /etc/rc.d/rc.slax so please dont report about these two.

Thanks for your help.
Please add [Solved] to your thread title if the solution was found.

More of a branding issue than a reference to slax--

When shutting down/logging out of KDE, the logout menu is displayed with a picture of a mouse next to it. That mouse has a clover on it.
Please take a look at our online documentation, here. Suggestions are welcome!

Right click on lzm module in Konqueror -> Open with... gives two options: Use Slax module and Slax Module Manager.

Edit: D'oh, no it doesn't - I had an old 'changes' partition from a previous version mounted. :oops:

Re: unnecessary references to slax,slax-remix name in Porteu

this is not an unnecessary reference to slax, but a consequence of the difference in name lengths of slax and porteus:

In the initial start window it reads by pxe option "serve" instead of "server".

I changed the width parameter from 28 to 30. Solved.

I also added a corrected version of "configure-for-slax", now "configure-for-porteus", for developers:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#!/bin/bash
if [ ! -x ./configure ]; then
echo "You can't start 'configure-for-porteus' in a directory with no 'configure' script"
exit 1
fi

CFLAGS="-O3 -march=i486 -mtune=i686" \
./configure --prefix=/usr --build=i486-Slackware-linux "$@"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

this convenient script was absent from SR V09

Regards!
Porteus is proud of the FASTEST KDE ever made.....(take akonadi, nepomuk and soprano out and you will have a decent OS).
