Will that load all that is in base/ - in my case, all the modules?
That's my interpretation.

"Porteus Modules" started like so works as intended (displaying in a GUI window the loaded modules) after asking for authentication
Only if you run the script like this :

Code: Select all

psu /usr/bin/lsmodules

IMO it should ask for authentication when one actually activate a module,
not when launching the GUI.
Could be that I just want to have an overview of what modules are currently running -
So why to auth at this stage?
That's also the benefit of asking for authentication once, and then simply activating each module.

psu seems rather unhelpful by design.
Started like so

Code: Select all

/opt/porteus-scripts/xorg/psu --help
only opens the

Code: Select all

Authentication is needed to run `/usr/bin/env' as the super user
dialogue but nothing helpful as --help would imply. Oh well. Image
Cheers!

The lack of help on this script doesn't mean it's not necessary

Sorry, I do not get what you mean by that.

Do you mean:
the script should be giving more help because that's necessary

or

the lack of help is not that important since the script itself is essential?

I don't know if it's essential to create a helper for this script, but I do know that these 2 scripts (psu ,lsmodules or their replacements) are indispensable.

Try to compare the activation of modules from a 'module' folder as 'guest' and as 'root': It's much easier as 'root' ...

Except with this modules tool ( psu + lsmodules )

I am sure that an office module the size of only 4K is worthless.

Many errors, I put them together again for your convenience:

why is that? Is the ar binary not called "ar"?

Here are my 2 files, the 5.0rc version from 2019 that lacks a library and the newest appImage downloaded today:

Code: Select all

guest@rava:/mybinm/onlyoffice$ ls -o --time-style=long-iso --quoting-style=shell * | cut -c 19-$(expr 18 + $(tput cols))
 218640384 2019-08-08 15:54 onlyoffice-5.0rc1-alldesktops.xzm
 395441344 2023-10-31 08:04 onlyofficev-7.5.0_DesktopEditors-x86_64.AppImage
208.51 MB vs 377.12 MB
I have no clue if either one uses Java. I very much prefer a program without Java (and without Electron)
The onlyoffice-5.0rc1-alldesktops.xzm has this issue:

Code: Select all

guest@rava:/opt/onlyoffice/desktopeditors$ ldd ./DesktopEditors |grep found
	libgconf-2.so.4 => not found
guest@rava:/opt/onlyoffice/desktopeditors$ cd /mnt/loop/
Dunno if Port 5.0rc-whatever provided libgconf-2.so.4

and yes, the overall performance of the onlyofficev-7.5.0_DesktopEditors-x86_64.AppImage was quite sluggish. But at least it offers a dark mode by default and not force its bright standard GUI setting upon me, it also offers a document dark mode (where the document is displayed inverted - very pleasant for the eyes.)

Still, when a update-onlyoffice script exists, then that script should be functional don't you think?
Cheers!

After creating 53248 bytes libgconf-2.so.4.1.5.xzm (52 KB) module the old onlyoffice-5.0rc1-alldesktops.xzm runs:

Code: Select all

guest@rava:/mybinm/onlyoffice$ onlyoffice-desktopeditors
[1107/195253.642789:ERROR:backend_impl.cc(2024)] Invalid file version or magic
guest@rava:/mybinm/onlyoffice$
but is unable to use the dark mode, in its advanced settings there is no dark mode available. :wall:
Unlikely that I find the free time and the inspiration (both at the same time no less!) to extract the onlyofficev-7.5.0_DesktopEditors-x86_64.AppImage and use the xzm2dir'd onlyoffice-5.0rc1-alldesktops.xzm as template and create an onlyofficev-7.5.0_DesktopEditors-x86_64_minimal-dependencies.rava.xzm module.

Or I try tweaking the update-onlyoffice script (skipping the initial download and extraction part) and let that one work on my exploded onlyofficev-7.5.0_DesktopEditors-x86_64.AppImage
Cheers!
Yours Rava
