Why are there Italian man pages in 06-man.xzm ?
Code: Select all
root@porteus:/mnt/live/memory/images# find .|grep usr/man/it/
./006-man.xzm/usr/man/it/man1
./006-man.xzm/usr/man/it/man1/apropos.1
./006-man.xzm/usr/man/it/man1/man.1
./006-man.xzm/usr/man/it/man1/manpath.1
./006-man.xzm/usr/man/it/man1/whatis.1
./006-man.xzm/usr/man/it/man1/zsoelim.1
./006-man.xzm/usr/man/it/man5
./006-man.xzm/usr/man/it/man5/manpath.5
./006-man.xzm/usr/man/it/man8
./006-man.xzm/usr/man/it/man8/accessdb.8
./006-man.xzm/usr/man/it/man8/catman.8
./006-man.xzm/usr/man/it/man8/mandb.8
The md5sum of my 06-man module:
Code: Select all

i guess because man-db has a special italian section to it's man pages? ...and the section of the build script dealing with 006-man doesn't have a special provision for dealing with it?

man-db has a special italian section to it's man pages
All man pages can be in any languages, as long as this language version of the man page got translated into whatever language that is.
The collection of non-English man pages in 06-man contains
only the Italian ones as listed, and the amount of Italian versions are also rather limited.
So I wondered how it came be that they were included in the first place…
Me thinks removing these would not really change the size of 06-man, but I can try and compare the 2 modules.
Cheers!

no, the question is: why does the slackware package:
man-db contain /usr/man/it (and no others)
compared to say, ...see arch's package contents list:
https://archlinux.org/packages/core/x86 ... -db/files/
that would be for mr. volkerding to answer..

How can we contact him?
Does slackware have an official forum or at least a wiki where one can ask such questions?
Cheers!

The Slackware forum found here is more or less the official one I believe. Patrick shows up once in awhile but surely not in all the voluminous threads...

While using the Porteus RC's, I kept an eye on the lively discussions in the changelogs and request-for-current etc ...

^
Since it is not about
Slackware - Installation nor about
Slackware - ARM the main forum of
https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/slackware-14/ should be the one to ask about.
I so happen to have a years old account on linuxquestions.org by the
obscure user name of
Rava.
Now I only must motivate myself to ask the question there.
Cheers!
