Hi folks
I have exactly the same problem. Porteus 5.0 x64 login=root in the menu.lst doesn't work.
Otherwise: Great work and beautiful. Thanks to all developers.

which OS is use your NAS
Some kind of linux, ZyXEL NAS520.
According to: https://kb.zyxel.com/KB/searchArticle!g ... 08&lang=EN
It is SMB v2
p.s. I had no problems with Porteus 4.0 and 5.0rc3 XFCE, but I noticed something strange. I could access NAS from Porteus 5.0rc3 XFCE after adding blueman module !?

pmod -S|--search-file doesn't work.

Code: Select all

# pmod -u
# pmod -S libIlmImf-2_5.so.25.0.6
# pmod --search-file libIlmImf-2_5.so.25.0.6
Thanks.

hmm, so blueman is included with xfce v.5.0 (not visible unless you use "bluetooth" cheatcode that starts the daemon)
another thought: somewhere along the line we dropped smbclient ...maybe that's necessary?..

With Cinnamon (5.4.2) and wifi, when I close the lid on my notebook, do manual tasks then reopen the notebook I can not reconnect to my wifi connection.
presumably, when "I close the lid on my notebook" sends it into a suspend mode and "reopen the notebook" is resume?
does this also happen if you use the suspend(or whatever it's called) option in the exit dialog?
"I can not reconnect to my wifi connection." meaning not only is the connection not automatically resumed, but not able to be connected at all?
check your processes to see if networkmanager is still running (either: system monitor or `pstree`)

AcnapyxoB, no wonder that NetworkManager breaks completely - so many versioned dependencies :book:
How about https://slackware.uk/slackware/slackwar ... 6_64-1.txz
BTW you can try this package from others distributions https://pkgs.org/search/?q=plasma-nm

On first attempts shows that:
"A timeout occurred while starting the service providing the VPN connection"
but at least don't break the NetworkManager entierly. The trials continue :D

By the way I ran into another little problem. This time with XFCE.
auto login not working with "changes=EXIT" cheatcode and .dat save file.
example:

Code: Select all

APPEND changes=EXIT:/mnt/sdb1/porteus/save.dat
with "changes-ro" have no problem:

Code: Select all

APPEND changes=EXIT:/mnt/sdb1/porteus/save.dat changes-ro
I don't know is it's just with changes=EXIT or affects and other situations !

Yes, not resumed and not able to be reconnected.. But other local wifi connections are shown, and accessible, when I put their passwords in.

And tonight when I tried to document the situation the wifi reconnected when I opened the lid after a 20 minute break.

I have exactly the same problem. Porteus 5.0 x64 login=root in the menu.lst doesn't work.
See reply/post #17 in this thread-- just edit /etc/rc.d/rc.4 in 003-xfce.xzm and replace per the instructions there and login=root will work again.
THANKS to [incomprehensible minus vowels] for the prompt fix.

window disappears (will be closed automatically)

Two USB sticks are connected (with text files):
1.) sdb1 file abc.txt
2.) sdc1 file xyz.txt

I navigate to sdb1 and open abc.txt (right mousekey, open with mousepad)
The window appears abc.txt

Then (afterwards) I navigate to sdc1 and open xyz.txt
The window appears xyz.txt
and the abc.txt window disappears (will be closed automatically)

Why is abc.txt closed automatically?

In Porteus 4.0, both windows remain open.
Why this difference between 4.0 and 5.0 ?
