Hi brokenman.
I tweak your caja-actions for MATE
added Russian localization
download ru-porteus-caja-actions.xzm

KDE5 x86_64

1) About dolphin right click menu actions (service menus) - it's not implemented in Porteus KDE5.
wread wrote:for instance Porteus service menus should live now in /usr/share/kservices5 (dolphin right-click menues). Others you have already noticed..
dutchkind wrote:The service menu's to extract and create xzm modules that were there in the previous Porteus were missing, so I copied the over in
/usr/share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus/ and /usr/share/kservices5/ServiceMenus (both, because some older kde4 applications need the first one, like the krusader I installed from usm)
2) Russian localization of KDE5 is about ~30% (poor Russian localization)
Image
etc...

Code: Select all

guest@porteus:~$ ls $PORTDIR/modules
console-cyrillic-0.9.17-noarch-1.xzm kde-l10n-ru-16.08.2-noarch-1alien.xzm ru-devel_locales.xzm
glibc-i18n-x86_64-1jay.xzm libreoffice-5.2.4-x86_64-ru-1alien.xzm ru_RU-locales-files.xzm
guest@porteus:~$
3) Plus home directories for guest and root ($HOMEDIR) don't have Russian names for folders. Spectacle have a missing Russian localization too.
Image

3) If I save downloading files via Mozilla firefox I see some missing icons

brokenman,

anyway, regarding this ACPI bug.

acpi=off on all old PCs means you cannot see how your battery charging and charging, couldn't control fan ant some useful options also disabled.

Please - if it is possigle and you have time - please rebuild kernel with proper acpi options - including initrd - and please make 3.2.2.1 or 3.2.3 iso image- if 4.9.1 is out.

If course may be it is kernel bug - not option of wrongly builded. Anyway now it is not solution it is workaround, not good one.

This is serious bug because novadey users do not bothering with cheat code and troubleshooting - if Linux do not starts on their PCs - they change distro - tha's all. And what such users tell other - "I tried Porteus - it is very bad distro - it even couldn't start on my PC"?

brokenman, I have suggestion for USM.

What about to set by deffault this path $PORTDIR/modules for xzm folder (need to add xzm folder in USM settings)
Image
and set Download folder at /tmp/usm
for txz (Slackware packages) only

???

It would be much easier for newbies and not only ;)
Request from this topic Modules deactivate after every reboot

@ Blaze
IMHO
What is good for one is bad for the other.
To store in /tmp is universal, one can then cut/paste xzms wherever one want.
And USM opens a root file manager to do just that.

There is no real advantage in workflow if xzms are stored in $PORTDIR/modules
by default
Example:
I store most xzms in the optional folder to prevent being activated at every boot.

If xzms are stored in $PORTDIR/modules by default,
i have to cut them out of the modules folder and paste them into optional..

Better to distribute it right from the tmp folder correctly.

Falcony does not seem to have the solution and this is advanced stuff for me. Unless, he proves me wrong for my first assertion.

According to the following link it is not due to kernel, but to ACPI table parsing code itself, or perhaps the SMP code:
https://01.org/linux-acpi/documentation ... cpi-issues
acpi=ht
the most like "acpi=off", disables all of ACPI except what is needed to enumerate processors.
If acpi=off works and acpi=ht fails, then the issue is in the ACPI table parsing code itself, or perhaps the SMP code.

I am unable to boot kde5 since porteus 3.2.2 however xfce boots with acpi=off:
viewtopic.php?f=81&t=6532&p=52216&hilit ... Dht#p52216

Here is a little more output provided with the help of the following thread:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/127989/n ... -do/220718
/var/log/syslog info could be useful, it has to come from a fail boot. I hope this output will help. The whole file was too big:

Also for ACPI table parsing code related to acpi:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/Referenc ... cksAndTips
ftws (firmware test suite) seems to be usefull tool to check the tables. There is a git see arch wiki:
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/fwts-git/
and
How to Debug
If you have got this far and not feeling completely put off then well done! The next step to figuring out bugs in the ACPI domain is to be able to effectively tweak the ACPI driver debug code to get the required information out of the driver at run time.
The first step is to enable the ACPI debug code. This is a compile time kernel option. Enable CONFIG_ACPI_DEBUG and build a debug kernel.

Once more, I would like to do more. But this seems above my competencies. :(

Thanks.

Please - if it is possigle and you have time - please rebuild kernel with proper acpi options - including initrd - and please make 3.2.2.1 or 3.2.3 iso image- if 4.9.1 is out.

If course may be it is kernel bug
The last.

Yes, it is not related to porteus it is related to linux kernel.
https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/52271

At the end user reports that in 4.9.6 it is fixed.

So anyway - we need kernel to update. :O: :wall:
