I upped the 32 bit iso based on 3.0 final. I took out frisbee network manager..and went back to wicd.

pacman -Syu yields message error:
It is impossible to install any package with pacman.
In addition, there is no package at all in the X environement, not even a terminal, unless I just don't know how to assign the program. I had to go out of X to be able to find the command line.
Thanks.

This is the first time i'm seeing that myself. I didn't know dropbox had a bandwidth limitation on the public folder.
you can resolve it by using the console, and:
scroll down til you see:
[sensei]
Server =
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/423 ... Repo/$arch
and either comment it out by like:
#[sensei]
#Server =
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/423 ... Repo/$arch
or change it to the sourceforge repo i just made:
[sensei]
Server =
https://sourceforge.net/projects/sensei ... Repo/$arch
(hyperlink may cause confusion with the " ... " in the url above. the exact url is "sourceforge.net/projects/senseignulinux/files/SenseiRepo/$arch" after the https://")
and then you can do:
and install your terminal of choice, text editor, file manager, etc. hopefully sourceforge doesn't have that same type of limitation.
if you want to use thunar file manager...add the new sensei repo as shown above, rather than commenting it out....after you should be able to install:
which will give you thunar without the "Root Warning" banner. you probably also want to install 'gvfs' and 'udisks2' for the volume monitor and trash can.

There is no nano installed. I have tried with a standard nano.xzm, some libraries where missing.
In addition, I could not find /etc/pacman.conf
Thanks

francois,
nano is in the system buddy. it's one of the first apps i 'always' install. it lives in 001-core.xzm. when u do:
u're getting "command not found"?

Hum! You were right. I dunno how I could miss the nano command with /etc/pacman.conf. Setting up followed thru quite swiftly, though I would have like to have some utility like slocate to find the files around. Specially, that I could not install mc properly (see 2.0)
1.0 The second solution was the only one working.
and either comment it out by like:

3.0 I like running google chrome root mode. However, I cannot find and modify google-chrome command in the file structure to modify it according to:

And slocate or midnight commander woul be precious.
4.0 I have the impression that the sound is not working.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. 8)

adding the sourceforge repo to /etc/pacman.conf opposed to commenting it out didn't work? you have it exactly like this in /etc/pacman.conf
Code: Select all
[sensei]
https://sourceforge.net/projects/senseignulinux/files/SenseiRepo/$arch
for mc...if you do:
Code: Select all
mkdir -p /usr/share/mc/bin
ln -sf /usr/lib/mc/mc-wrapper.sh /usr/share/mc/bin/mc-wrapper.sh
it should work.
mc is not an app that i ever use...so i'll have to look closer at it to see if i can figure out how to fix that.
sound should work after installing your preferred audio and/or video app. but if it doesn't....install alsa-lib. u'd probably also want to install alsa-utils.
I know this type of system may be viewed as possibly 'annoying' to some. but after getting past the 'set up' hump...you should be satisfied knowing your system consists of 'only' what you picked....and 'none' of what you didn't pick.

i've uploaded another iso to include this updated
004-baseapps.xzm, and uploaded
005-extraapps.xzm which depends on it.

No this is exactly what made the job.
sound should work after installing your preferred audio and/or video app. but if it doesn't....install alsa-lib. u'd probably also want to install alsa-utils
This is done already. I will add some streaming radio and see.

Not annoying at all, but rather instructive. 8)
Your comments are really appreciated. Its great to play with archlinux, and greater in the form of a porteus clone.

installed the 64 bit iso to usb. (by extracting, and running Porteus.installer.for.Linux)
boots to the point of "loading nodm" and stalls(on two different machines) regardless of which boot option

thanks for testing and reporting back...looks like two dependecies are missing in the 003-xfce64.xzm. could u try swapping out the one on the iso for this one:
003-xfce64.xzm...
