Intel Compute Stick

Post#1 by Catalyph » 03 Feb 2020, 15:38

I'm looking to deploy 20+ kiosks that load a webpage on multiple displays around the country.

I think the best hardware for the project is going to be an intel compute stick. However Im unable to determine if any of them will work with Porteus-Kiosk out of the box.
I have read a couple of versions the wifi or HDMI does not work, and these are 100% required to work.

Specifically i'm looking at the compute stick

Hi Catalyph,

1) For audio support you definitely will need a customized build (Intel HDMI chips require Pulseaudio as Alsa do not support them yet):
https://porteus-kiosk.org/builds.html

2) Wifi should work out of the box with recent kernel we have in kiosk 4.9.0.

Thanks

Be careful with those no name sticks. They tend to be junk. We tried some and they were all garbage regardless of what OS we installed.

Since the real Compute stick is only 32 bit you'll want to take a look at Azulle. Even though they cost more it was well worth it.
