Not sure where the problem is. This parameter:
allows accessing 'forum.porteus.org' but blocks 'porteus.org'.
Tested on Firefox and Chrome.

In this case you just whitelist 'porteus.org'.
BTW: If you use 'whitelist=http://porteus.org' then subdomains wont be whitelisted (maybe this is what was confusing you?).
